Please put your hands together like this👏 for Xinyi Guo and Rikka Ly who are both finalists in the #WIICTA Awards!! ✨ Rikka is a finalist in the Graduate category, recognising a standout candidate who has commenced a career within the tech industry and has made an immediate and positive impact on the business through providing a fresh perspective and high levels of professionalism. ✨ Xinyi is a finalist in the Rising Star / Vendor category, which is for women with 10 years or less experience and it recognises a standout candidate rising through the ranks, acknowledging significant advancement during the early stages of her career. This individual is growing in stature and importance, demonstrating outstanding business acumen, deep market expertise and high levels of professional integrity. Being a finalist is already a wonderful achievement, and we are so proud - these awards do an important job of highlighting the achievements of women across the ICT industry. 🤔 What if designers took a Hippocratic oath? "First, do no harm." As designers, our decisions impact millions of lives daily. From the apps managing our finances to the platforms connecting us with loved ones, our work shapes human experiences in profound ways. Senior Digital Product Designer, Sam, suggests it's time for a Designer's Oath that empowers us to stand behind choices that protect users from harm, respect privacy, embrace inclusivity, maintain transparency, and use AI responsibly. 🔗 Interested? 🔐 While hackers are getting creative, we're getting certified! RUSH recently achieved ISO 27001 certification. This internationally recognised standard confirms our commitment to protecting our clients' digital assets. Digitising something doesn't guarantee it's success. "Technology is just a tool, like a hammer. With a hammer you can build something—and you can also destroy something. Our most successful customer programmes start with shared understanding and trust, and remaining open to discovering that the real problem might be different than initially thought. The digital threats that target our businesses don't stop at our office doors—they can follow us home. We're well aware that the knowledge and advice the team gets from our cyber security specialists keeps them safe at work AND at home - but this isn't the case for many people who don't think about tech for their day job. And in light of shows like Netflix's "Adolescence" highlighting the digital dangers that children face, our Security Compliance & IT Support Specialist, Tim N. wanted to share his views on applying professional cybersecurity practices at home. This article outlines practical steps any family can implement: 📱 Creating proper device governance for children of different ages 🔐 Building a secure home network (your first line of defence) 🪪 Age-appropriate security awareness conversations ⌚ Managing IoT devices that could compromise your family's privacy ⚖️ Finding the right balance between protection and independence Whether you're a cybersecurity professional or a concerned parent, these enterprise-inspired strategies can help protect what matters most while preparing your children for a digital future.
As a cyber security specialist at RUSH, I'm often thinking about how the security principles we apply at enterprise level can – and should – be brought into the home. With smart devices everywhere and kids going online earlier than ever, it's critical we treat our home networks with the same level of care we give corporate systems. I wrote this piece to help bridge that gap – practical, proactive advice for families looking to stay safe in our connected world. 💊💊 Did you know New Zealand ranks in the top five globally for antibiotic consumption? Thankfully an incredible team of healthcare professionals is working to change that. We're proud to have supported a dedicated team of healthcare experts – infectious disease doctors, pharmacists, microbiologists, and more – who led the development of Te Whata Kura, New Zealand's first national digital antimicrobial guideline system. Their vision was ambitious: unite 20+ different guidelines into one cohesive standard and gain deeper insights into prescribing patterns to ensure equitable care across Aotearoa. The clinical team's expertise and commitment to antimicrobial stewardship drove every aspect of this innovative platform. Our GM of Emerging Tech Tim Packer and The University of Auckland's Stephen Richie spoke to RNZ this week to discuss the problem to be solved, and how technology is playing a role in the solution.
