This week the NZ Food and Grocery Council brought together a diverse representation of our members and Hon. Andrew Hoggard, Minister for Food Safety, for a straight-talking, solution-focussed session, to discuss reducing red tape while keeping our food safe. We all appreciated the genuine engagement and open-mindedness from the Minister and also thanks to our members for coming armed with insights, ideas and enthusiasm!

Reducing regulation and red tape for Kiwi food businesses ✂️ Today we hosted a series of engagement sessions with members from the NZ Food and Grocery Council and Hon. Andrew Hoggard Minister for Food Safety. FDI were delighted to meet with Raewyn Bleakley, CEO of New Zealand Food and Grocery Council this week. There are many common issues in our two agri-food export powerhouses with small (5 million population) domestic markets. We discussed sustainability, nutrition, competitiveness, packaging, food reformulation and the related opportunities / challenges.

Thank you Dirk Jacobs for hosting me at the FoodDrinkEurope offices. It was great to discuss key issues for the food and beverage industry, including sustainability and regulatory developments in Europe and impacts for NZ exporters. I also found learning more about how FoodDrink Europe operates across such a wide range of countries, organisations and companies facinating.
