Pore space in the #PermianBasin is running out — what’s next? As #ProducedWater disposal faces increasing constraints, the #OilAndGas industry is urgently seeking alternative solutions. That urgency was on full display at last week’s PWS Conference in Houston, where investors, industry leaders, and technology experts came together to tackle this critical challenge. The energy in the room was electric! Huge thanks to the Produced Water Society team — including our very own Michael Grossman — for hosting such a top-tier event. Key takeaway: While many exciting #desalination technologies are emerging as a solution for recovering clean water from PW, data transparency remains a major hurdle. Without clear, comparable performance data, the industry risks falling behind as disposal options diminish. Are we moving fast enough to stay ahead of the wave? At Aquafortus, we believe in leading by example. Our CTO Richard Brunton and COO Matt Kilker put our technology and real-world data on the table—because real progress requires real numbers. And it paid off! We’re honored to have won the PWS Technology Pitch Competition, recognized by Douglas Lee and the rest of the expert judging panel. Meanwhile, the pressure beneath our feet is mounting — literally. Just days after the conference, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck West Texas, one of the strongest in state history. The link between seismic activity and produced water injection is well-documented. If we needed another wake-up call, this was it. The time for action is now.
