About us
The Social Changemakers and Innovators (SOCHAI) is a young women led organization formed with an aim to inform and empower women, girls and grass-root communities through advocacy, education, innovation and entrepreneurship related to health and nutrition. The unique aspect of the SOCHAI - Youth For Nutrition project is our innovative educational tool “Nutribeads bracelet”. Each bead in the Nutribeads bracelet has a specific meaning. The numbers correspond to child’s age, ranging from six, nine, 12 to 24 months. The colors indicate the type of food the child should be given. Through this innovation, we educate communities about proper nutrition practices to prevent malnutrition and contribute in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We are also promoting social business by involving local artisans in making the bracelets and help them find a way out of poverty and malnutrition.

Do you know when to give iron and folic acid tablets to adolescent girls as per Nepal Government's Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS) guideline? 🩸 ❌ Baisakh, Jestha, Ashar (13 weeks) - Not to be given ✅ Shrawn, Bhadra, Ashoj (13 weeks) - Given ❌ Kartik, Mangsir, Poush (13 weeks) - Not to be given ✅ Magh, Phagun, Chait (13 weeks) - Given When administering iron folic acid tablets, one tablet should be given each week for 13 weeks. Additionally, deworming tablets should be given twice a year, in Jestha and Mangsir. For easy understanding, reminder and tracking of the iron supplementation and deworming, SOCHAI's wearable educational tool - 'Iron Folic Acid (IFA) Bracelet' Or 'Anti-Anemia Bracelet' can be used. Dear adolescent girls, Magh has already arrived and if you haven’t started taking iron tablets, please remind your teachers, local health workers, and local government representatives. Also, do not forget to include iron rich food in your diet to prevent the risk of anemia. #WIFAS #Anemia #Adolescent #Nutrition #Sochai
