The green transition needs green numbers.   📝 For zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) to scale, predictable regulations are essential. Without them, uncertainty will delay or even cancel much-needed investments.   🎯 The International Maritime Organization’s Net-Zero Framework must provide the right incentives to drive demand and ensure willingness to pay for ZNZ fuels.   ✅ A strong and stable regulatory framework will unlock investment and enable ZNZ fuels to compete with fossil fuels. Without it, the transition will stall.   The shipping industry is ready to move - but member states of the IMO must set the course. ⚓

The IMO must take bold action to drive zero-emission shipping. 🚢 Right now, regulatory uncertainty is slowing investments in zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs). Without clear policy measures, fossil fuels will remain the default choice for years to come. 📝 Member states of the International Maritime Organization have a historic opportunity to set ambitious rules that create demand and provide certainty for ZNZ investments. 🎯 The IMO’s Net-Zero Framework must ensure that ZNZ fuels become a viable and competitive option - not just an aspiration. ✅ Clear, predictable regulations will unlock investments and scale-up. Weak policies will stall progress. The time to act is now. ⚓

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Net-Zero Framework must drive the transition towards decarbonized fuels to reach the climate targets. 🚢 🎯 To achieve the IMO’s ambitious decarbonization agenda, a clear business case for zero and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) is essential. 📝 The IMO is set to introduce historic regulations to drive the shipping industry towards net-zero. To succeed, these regulations must level the playing field for zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) to compete with fossil fuels. ✅ Transitioning to ZNZ fuels must provide a positive business case for all parts of the value chain. IMO has the power to make ZNZ fuels a realistic alternative. Now it must act. ⚓

It has been some hectic and exciting days here in Davos where Yara Clean Ammonia (YCA) has engaged with key stakeholders promoting clean ammonia. I have emphasized on the importance of creating demand for low carbon (LC) products. Lack of demand for LC products is the main hurdle for developing good business cases and getting projects to reality. To create demand we need: - Clear incentives for LC products, or products with a very low carbon intensity (CI) - Measures to make high CI products less attractive - Mechanism that fully and significantly close the cost gap between near zero fuels and fossil fuel - Regulatory certainty & predictability - GHG emissions to be accounted for on well-to-wake basis + emissions to be certified - Clear & Uniform certification scheme to guarantee transparency and same level playing field #yaracleanammonia

This week, we’ve been at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where leaders from around the globe came together to tackle critical challenges in building a competitive, resilient, and sustainable future.   Key topics this year included the role of #AI in shaping industries, the urgent need for regulatory frameworks, and accelerating the #EnergyTransition. While AI has been a major focus, highlighting how technology can improve efficiency and reduce emissions, it’s clear that innovation must work hand-in-hand with policies to create real change.   #WEF25 reinforced that ambition without action isn’t enough. Here’s what we’ve brought to the table in Davos:   🚀 Creating demand for low-carbon solutions: Scaling up LC products requires clear demand to unlock business cases and make the green transition financially viable.   💡 Incentives and policies: Clear incentives for LC products, mechanisms to close the cost gap with fossil fuels, and predictable regulatory frameworks are essential to driving adoption.   🌍 Collaboration across sectors: Progress doesn’t happen in silos.Governments, businesses, and innovators must work together to provide the consistency and confidence needed to scale solutions and secure investment.   Beating climate change requires us all to play our part. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation, Engineer Hassan ElKhatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Ambassador Mohamed Nagm, Egypt’s Ambassador to Switzerland. At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the ongoing cooperation between the Egyptian government and Yara Clean Ammonia, particularly in the field of green hydrogen, expressing his desire to enhance areas of collaboration with the company, in light of Egypt's interest in increasing the electricity generation capacities from renewable energy that can be used in the production of green hydrogen. Last week, the Ammonia Europe launch event brought together industry leaders to discuss the future of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen products. A key takeaway from the event was the urgent need to create demand for low-carbon and renewable #hydrogen products, a goal that the Clean Industrial Deal (#CID) could help achieve. Focusing on incentivizing end-use is crucial to driving demand for low-emission products. ⏰ 🌍 Vibeke Rasmussen of Yara Clean Ammonia highlighted, achieving this requires a balanced approach:   “From the Clean Industrial Deal we expect predictability on frameworks for funding and policies, but also not too stringent rules. The focus should be on carbon intensity and be technology-agnostic. We all, as customers, have the power to demand visibility for the carbon intensity of final products, such as food on the shelves, and can help create a market for clean hydrogen.” Industry representatives echoed the sentiment that demand is the number one driver needed to enable the hydrogen economy, supported by a mix of policy measures that balance incentives and regulation.
