This week the Maritime Battery Forum visited several members in the region around Ålesund, Norway for some interesting conversations on maritime battery technology and marine electrification. Thanks for the warm welcome Rem Offshore, ULSTEIN Power and Control, and Spinning Energy AS! We were lucky to be able to take a ride on the electric ferry Hadarøy from Fjord1 AS, powered by batteries from Corvus Energy and integrated by Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) Electric System during this trip and we also got a nice view on the beautiful Havila Castor leaving Ålesund in the sun set, also with batteries from Corvus Energy and integrated by Norwegian Electric Systems! 📰 Exciting news! The Maritime Battery Forum and Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Accelerate Zero-Emission Shipping! The signing ceremony took place on onboard Yinson GreenTech’s Hydromover during the WATTS UP APAC conference, a premier event focused on maritime energy transition, held in Singapore on March 27, 2025. The partnership between MBF, a leading organization promoting battery-powered maritime solutions, and ZESTAs, a global advocate for zero-emission shipping technologies, marks a significant step forward in the industry’s collective efforts to decarbonize and achieve sustainable shipping. The MOU outlines a framework for joint initiatives, knowledge sharing, and advocacy to accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions in the maritime sector.
