Elkem ASA has been at the heart of Norwegian communities for over a century 🏭 Representatives from Forbundet Styrke, Norway's union for industry, oil and gas, recently visited our Bjølvefossen plant, a community cornerstone in western Norway since 1905. "Ålvik wouldn't exist as we know it today without Elkem Bjølvefossen," explains Sverre Linga, who has worked at the plant since 1998, following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. The industrial fjord town is home to just over 500 inhabitants, and more than 150 work at Elkem Bjølvefossen. Norway has a rich tradition of union culture, and Sverre believes unions are fundamental to sustaining Norwegian industry, since they advocate for workers' rights, promote safety standards and drive innovation, while leading private-public sector cooperation, ensuring good framework conditions for industry. Elkem recognises the role of unions in our success. Today, 71% of our EEA employees are covered by collective bargaining agreements, and 39% are covered globally. By working closely with unions, we ensure that our workforce is empowered, engaged and equipped to meet the challenges of the future, strengthening the foundation of sustainable industry 💪 Thank you to Cay Nordhaug, member of Forbundet Styrke's Working Committee, and secretary Ronny Kristoffersen for visiting, and to Sverre Linga, Elkem Bjølvefossen's main union representative, and Eilen Rykkje, process operator at the plant and board member of AALVIK ARBEIDERFORENING, for providing a warm welcome 🤝 🔗🇳🇴 Read the article: https://bit.ly/42JoeoL 📷: Egil Brandsøy

Gooooo Bodø/Glimt! 👏⚽ Elkem ASA is a proud sponsor and partner of FK BODØ/GLIMT- the first male Norwegian football team to reach a quarter-final in the UEFA Europa League. Tonight, they face Italian S.S. Lazio 🇳🇴 🇮🇹 In support of the team, we're world-premiering our stadium film here on LinkedIn. The Northern Norwegian text states: "Elkem and the heroes of Bodø/Glimt together. Together for the Nordland region. Together for innovation. Together for premium performance. Together at the top." 🤝 The first of two matches will be played tonight at Aspmyra Arena, close to our Elkem Salten plant, with the Elkem team cheering from the sidelines and in front of TVs everywhere. We feel strong connections to Glimt - their team spirit, their community engagement, their resilience and their continuous striving to deliver on high ambitions. In times of geopolitical uncertainties, football can unite and energise us. And nothing beats cheering for a team that is punching above its league and showing the true spirit of a Norwegian Northerner! Best of luck tonight, FK BODØ/GLIMT - you are true champions! 🎉 📹 Erik N.H. Krafft

This week, Elkem unveiled a pioneering new range of recycled silicones for the label industry, reinforcing our commitment to circularity and innovation. ♻️ Two 100% recycled references are joining our SILCOLEASE® range for release liners, delivering identical technical performance to their non-recycled counterparts, with a carbon footprint reduced by 70%. 📢 "They represent the future of release liner technology, delivering the same trusted, non-stick properties and easy release of self-adhesive materials our customers expect from us", says Agnes JOLLY, Head of Research & Technology for Silicone Fluids at Elkem. Manufactured in our state-of-the-art chemical recycling pilot unit in Saint Fons, France, these products are available in pre-commercial launch and will be presented in detail in an upcoming webinar on May 15th. ℹ️ Read the official announcement: https://bit.ly/43FUp9H #silicones #circularity #chemicalrecycling #labels

Thank you to DNB Markets for hosting us at the annual Small and Medium Enterprises Conference in Oslo last week, providing Odd-Geir Lyngstad, Elkem ASA 's VP finance & investor relations, with the opportunity to give investors an update on the company's strategic focus areas and what our outlook on the market is. Odd-Geir's key messages: Strong cost and market positions: Elkem's integrated value chain ensures that we're able to maintain strong cost and market positions. This year, we'll keep working on leveraging our cost leadership, building stronger margins, while pursuing growth opportunities globally. Geographically balanced portfolio: Our business portfolio is geographically balanced with a significant number of customers. Approximately 60% of our sales are in the Western markets and 40% in Asia. This diversification helps us navigate market fluctuations, trade tensions, and geopolitical uncertainties. Delivering good results: Elkem has delivered solid results over the business cycle and is well positioned to benefit once markets recover. Our resilient business model ensures long-term profitability and growth. For further updates, join us at our Q1 2025 results presentation on 30th April. 📷 Haugen Media, Emma Lisa Haugen

Critical raw materials play a pivotal role in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, e-mobility, defence and aerospace 🔋✈ With demand increasing exponentially and global trade tensions rising, ensuring a secure and sustainable supply is more important than ever. Norway represents about 40% of the EU's supply of silicon and holds a significant position in this landscape. As a key supplier, Elkem ASA is invested in efforts to strengthen supply chains and support the #GreenTransition. Last week, Elkem's Marianne Stigset, VP of Communication and Public Affairs, and Erik Stenback, senior corporate specialist in sustainability, participated in Innovation Norway in Europe's Green Industry Forum, contributing to a round table discussion on critical raw materials and how to strengthen value chains, combine decarbonisation and competitiveness, improve framework conditions and drive innovation for greater sustainability. 🌱 Key takeaways: ❗ Securing critical raw materials: Silicon metal is classified as both a critical and strategic material by the EU and the US. The EU is undergoing deindustrialisation at a rapid pace, so ensuring the continued supply of silicon and ferrosilicon is vital to protect the region's critical value chains. ✅ Strengthening sustainable competitiveness: Measures to strengthen the competitiveness of European producers of critical raw materials include providing clean and affordable energy to the industry, ensuring stable framework conditions and applying efficient trade mechanisms to create a level-playing field. 💡 Innovation and technology developments: Elkem is investing significantly in initiatives to reach emission-free production of silicon products, such as replacing carbon with biomass as a reduction material, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon looping. The challenge now is to strengthen the business case for these initiatives, making them commercially viable in a globally competitive industry. 🤝 Public-private partnerships: Strong public-private partnerships are essential for bridging resource gaps, spreading risk, and leveraging complementary competencies to support the green transition. As a sponsor of the Green Industry Forum, Elkem welcomed the opportunity to engage with industry leaders, policymakers and innovators to accelerate dialogue on sustainable industrial practices and cooperation towards a #GreenTransition. Thank you to the Ambassade de France en Norvège, French-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, and Innovation Norway in Europe for a highly topical and interesting forum! 📷: eric VERNAZOBRES
