Every year, Black Friday marks the start of the festive shopping season. However, it has now rapidly turned into a deal scoring buying spree for brands and retailers to close any sales target gap they might have. With online transactions surging far into the triple digitals during the Black Friday weekend (UK +404%, ES +576%, DE +346%), any marketeer marks it as a key period to make a significant impact on the Q4 and yearly results. This provides an interesting question. How do you manage your retail media network during such a volatile and high-pressure period? Many of the brands you work with want to be front-and-center during this period. Problem is: there’s limited space. The typical advice is to let brands bid against each other for the best ad spots, increasing CPM-levels to +200% over that period. But this doesn’t guarantee performance nor a good experience for your advertisers. This is where direct deals come into play. With direct deals, retailers can easily negotiate how brands will be exposed on their selected channels during the peak-period. Now, advertisers can also track these campaigns through the new display ads attribution functionality. After selecting a product in the display ad campaign creation process, reporting becomes far more granular compared to existing post click conversion numbers.
