🌱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻🌱 This past Monday, HIC had the pleasure of attending the High Tech in Horticulture event at TU Delft. A key takeaway? The Netherlands remains a global leader in horticulture and agriculture—but staying ahead requires continuous effort, adaptability, and strong collaboration. One image that stood out during the event was that of a bending tree in the CropXR presentation. A powerful reminder that 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. At HIC, we believe that the same applies to the future of horticulture: embracing change, integrating new technologies working together and staying agile in an evolving world to drive meaningful progress. The goal of this collaboration is to create a practical environment with test locations where technical and social innovations can be experimented with. Kas voor de Toekomst will be realized in a few years at the Flora Campus Westland in Naaldwijk. Here, companies, knowledge institutions, and governments will collaborate on system innovations for greenhouse horticulture. The HortiScience Innovation Center (HIC) is located in Bleiswijk. This innovation center focuses on creating and guiding startups in greenhouse horticulture. It is only natural for both initiatives to collaborate. They both focus on innovation and the sustainability of the horticultural sector. Additionally, the Flora Campus Westland and the Horti Science Park are physical locations of Greenport Horti Campus (alongside Dutch Fresh Port in Barendrecht). 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 To strengthen each other, the organizations behind Kas voor de Toekomst and the HortiScience Innovation Center have decided to jointly apply for funding. This subsidy is intended for collaborations that want to establish a regional experimental location and contribute to future-proof solutions and healthy returns in agriculture and horticulture. Greenport West-Holland has submitted the application on behalf of Delphy Greenhouse Horticulture, Greenhouse Horticulture - Wageningen University & Research, YES!Delft, StartLife, World Horti Center, Vertify, Glastuinbouw Nederland, and Tomatoworld. 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Project leader Edwin Lambregts of Kas voor de Toekomst: “This application is a great next step in the collaboration within the Greenport. By connecting the growth gems of the HortiScience Innovation Center with the system breakthroughs we are working on in Kas voor de Toekomst, we ensure a constant flow of fresh ideas and young talent. This is a huge boost for the profitability of greenhouse horticulture!” Evert Jaap Lugt, facilitator of the HortiScience Innovation Center: “Real breakthroughs in greenhouse horticulture occur when we innovate together.
