What’s happening in Dutch health IT—and why does it matter for countries around the world? Yesterday, our CMO Martine Berden visited the Zorg & ICT conference in Utrecht in the Netherlands to explore the latest on interoperability and digital innovation in healthcare. While the insights are grounded in the Dutch context, the themes resonate far beyond the Netherlands. Many of the challenges—fragmented data, slow adoption, regional innovation outpacing national strategy—are shared by healthcare systems around the world. 💡 Key takeaways from Martine’s article: Network care is the buzzword. Regional collaboration is growing fast, but without coordination, we risk a patchwork of platforms and more data silos. In other words, are there too many cooks in the kitchen? Everyone talks about data availability, but are there enough real-world use cases to ensure adoption? Patients and providers still struggle to access what they need, when they need it. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is starting to shape national policy and could be the push needed to move from pilots to true interoperability. And across it all, FHIR is the standard driving this future—powering safe, scalable, anAt Firely, we know this standard like no other.
