After two years of collaboration across more than 80 organisations, the CATS CONOPS for Future Skies has officially launched! 🌍 Developed by the CATS Global Council, this Concept of Operations lays out a strategic and operational pathway through to #2045. It serves as a global roadmap to help aviation move beyond today’s fragmented systems and towards a future of #seamless, #scalable, and #sustainable airspace integration. The focus is on meaningful transformation - integrating both traditional and emerging airspace users, leveraging #digitalisation and #automation, and advancing the global dialogue on the future of air traffic management. 🔗 Learn more and read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/eGa9bfBP 🛫 Why it matters: The aviation system is under pressure. Traffic is growing. New players such as electric air taxis (eVTOLs), drones, and high-altitude operations (HAO), including suborbital flights are entering the scene. Space operations are also becoming more frequent. Environmental expectations are rising. We can’t solve tomorrow’s challenges with yesterday’s tools. The CATS CONOPS lays out a practical, collaborative and future-ready framework to guide that shift - phase by phase: 1) Optimised digital operations 2) Advanced automation & real-time performance 3) A seamless, fully integrated sky As Simon Hocquard, Chair of the CATS Global Council, put it: “This isn’t about incremental change. It’s about rethinking how we manage airspace in the decades ahead — for everyone.” We’re grateful to all the contributors, from ANSPs, airports and airlines to startups and OEMs, who shaped this vision. In an article titled "The value in global partnerships", Dr Lea Sophie Vink from Austro Control is exploring how global partnerships can help advance aviation safety. She highlights the development of the Collaborative Safety Culture Benchmarking Programme - an initiative led by the CANSO Human Performance Management Workgroup in collaboration with Austrocontrol, skyguide and NAV CANADA. This kind of partnership moves us beyond individual assessments and enables organisations to identify shared trends, best practices, and opportunities for improvement at an industry level. CANSO has been advocating enhancing the way Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) is being done in Asia Pacific to cope with future growth. Poh Theen Soh, CANSO APAC Director participated today at the ACI World - Airports Council International APAC and Middle East Conference in Delhi, India, and explained how enhancing ATFM better balances airport and airspace capacity. ACI is keen to explore joint collaborative follow-up with CANSO on this subject.    Poh Theen also took the opportunity to pay a visit to the ATFM centre of India and had a useful discussion with ATFM General Manager, Shibu Robert and Joint General Manager, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta
