𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗮 Our subsea rock installation vessel Rockpiper recently completed a major project in the North Sea. The development of the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm required the installation of 95 rock berms that serve as scour protection for the future wind turbine foundations and one pre-lay rock pad as foundation for the future offshore converter station. To execute this project our Rockpiper made thirteen trips from quarries in Norway to the offshore wind farm – and back – installing approximately 287,500 tons of rock during the 114-day campaign. Unique about this project is that the design of each rock berm varies slightly. In other words, routine work was not an option for East Anglia Three. But is that an issue for the experienced crew of the Rockpiper and the project team? Absolutely not! The results speak for themselves: 95 different rock berms on the bottom of the North Sea, providing as a solid foundation for the future offshore wind farm. We thank the crew of the Rockpiper and our project team for their hard work and dedication during this project. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #rockpiper #energytransition #offshorewind #subsearockinstallation #eastangliathree

𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 In a few years, the blades of exactly one hundred wind turbines in RWE’s 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm in the North Sea will be rotating continuously. But in order to install the foundations, turbines and blades, dredging work must first be carried out. Not in the future wind farm itself but at the Alexandra Dock in the port of Hull in the United Kingdom, which will be used in the coming years as a storage and marshalling site for the necessary turbine parts. With relatively small dredging equipment – the crane pontoon Medusa 2 and the barges Wadden 2 and Wadden 3 – our colleagues at Boskalis Westminster have been working in Hull to prepare the berth area for future operations. The main task: to increase the size and depth of the stone beds for the spud cans of the jack up vessel to land on safely. The beds were deepened to -15.5 meters and stone imported, placed and levelled to enable the jack-up vessel to stand firmly on its four legs there. We thank our client Siemens Gamesa for their trust and thank the project team and vessel crews for their efforts! #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #dredging #medusa2 #waddenbarges #hull #unitedkingdom #energytransition #offshorewind

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗣𝗦𝗢𝘀 In about a year and a half, Boskalis towed three brand-new FPSOs across the globe. With our powerful oceangoing tugs BOKA Sherpa, BOKA Alpine, BOKA Fulmar, BOKA Glacier, BOKA Defender and BOKA Expedition, we transported – in varying combinations of tugs – the 334-meter-long Sepetiba, the 351-meter-long Almirante Tamandaré and most recently the 334-meter-long Alexandre de Gusmão from Asia to their final destination offshore Brazil. Their total length: exactly 1,029 meters. Each new FPSO was transported by means of a so-called triple tow, connecting three powerful oceangoing tugs to the FPSO. Thanks to their bollard pull ranging from 205 to 300 tons, the vessels can jointly tow the cargo in a stable and safe manner to its final destination. We thank our client SBM Offshore for their cooperation during these three Brazilian triple tows and thank the crews of the vessels and the project team for their efforts. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #offshoreenergy #fpso #heavymarinetransport #marineservices #brazil #bokaalpine #bokaglacier #bokafulmar #bokasherpa #bokadefender #bokaexpedition

𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝘆, 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮 Boskalis and joint venture partner Van Oord recently completed an extensive dredging project in Walvis Bay, Namibia. With the trailing suction hopper dredgers Gateway and Vox Alexia we deepened the 10-kilometer-long access channel to the port of Walvis Bay from -14.4 to -16.8 meters and widened it from 130 to 200 meters. In addition, both vessels dredged the harbor basin to a depth of -16.3 meters and expanded it by more than 400 meters. A major challenge on the project was the presence of excessive concentrations of toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the dredged sediment. To mitigate this risk, a large number of health and safety measures were taken during the mobilization prior to the project, including modifications to the vessels and the installation of dozens of sensors and special H2S filters. Also, the vessel crews were trained on how to deal with H2S. They were able to measure the concentration of H2S in the air at all times and established safe working protocols on board. A large number of sensors were also installed on the quays of the port area to alert the workers and users of the port in time in case the gas appeared. Thanks to these engineering and administrative controls, the project was successfully completed without incidents and well on time. We thank the client for its trust and the project team and vessel crews for their dedication during this project. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #dredging #namibia #walvisbay #gateway #trailingsuctionhopperdredger #innovativeinfrastructure

𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗞𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 With an annual throughput of over 14 million containers, Port Klang in Malaysia ranks among the 11 busiest container ports in the world. Smooth access to the port and its many berths is therefore crucial for Malaysian and international trade. To safeguard this accessibility, our two trailing suction hopper dredgers Fairway and Shoreway are therefore working to keep the port area at the required depth. Boskalis’ mega hopper Fairway dredged sediment from the port area. Currently, the smaller and therefore more maneuverable Shoreway is at work in Port Klang to dredge the shallower areas that are more difficult to reach. A successful double team in one of the world’s busiest ports. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #dredging #portklang #malaysia #facilitatingglobaltrade #fairway #shoreway #trailingsuctionhopperdredger
