Today marks an exciting day for Action as we celebrate the opening of our first store in Switzerland in Bachenbülach. After starting in the Netherlands in 1993, Switzerland is now the 13th country with Action stores. Our formula of good-quality products at the lowest price is already familiar to many customers in Switzerland. Several of them have been shopping in our stores in neighboring countries for quite some time. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to reach this important next step in our development, and in particular the Action team in Switzerland that worked hard to make this happen!

For the third year in a row, Action has been voted the Favorite Retailer of the French in a survey conducted by consulting firm EY-Parthenon. "We are honoured to get this prestigious distinction for the third time in a row and want to thank everyone who contributed to this achievement: our store employees, our loyal customers, and our suppliers. We’re thrilled to see that our French customers embrace shopping at Action. Today, we published our Action Update 2024 – a reflection on a year of growth and continued commitment to sustainability. In 2024 we welcomed more customers than ever. We continue to grow across Europe. This year, we are launching in Switzerland and Romania, followed by Croatia and Slovenia in 2026. As we grow, we are also increasing our sustainability ambitions. In the past years, we have significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations (scope 1 and 2) and we have now increased our reduction target. Read more on: update.action.com

We are proud that the first ‘Cruyff Court activated by Action’ officially opened last week in the 18th arrondissement of Paris! Cruyff Courts provide safe, well-maintained spaces where children can play sports. The ‘Cruyff Courts activated by Action’ will open in neighbourhoods near Action stores, giving the children of these neighbourhoods an opportunity to get active. To mark the opening of the first court, French football legends Robert Pirès and Claude Makélélé joined the children of Goutte d’Or, each captaining a team of local kids to share their love of the game – just like when they were young. Paris is just the beginning. Action and the Johan Cruyff Foundation will bring sports courts to children across multiple countries. The journey starts in France, followed by Germany, Spain, Belgium, and more. One minute of silence at Action On Thursday 20 February, Action lost two beloved colleagues in a fatal stabbing in one of our stores in the Czech Republic. We are shocked and deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence. Together with all Action colleagues, we would like to commemorate our deceased colleagues and take a stand against all forms of violence by observing one minute of silence. This will take place in all our stores, offices and distribution centres on Thursday 27 February at 10:00 CET. We ask for your understanding.

Action announced its 2024 net sales this morning.   During 2024 net sales grew thanks to more customers visiting existing and new stores to buy their daily necessities. Action’s development leads to significant growth in the number of colleagues employed as well as investments in development opportunities and promoting many colleagues to a new position. Action a participé à la cérémonie des Trophées Happy At School et Happy Trainees 2024 de ChooseMyCompany, qui s’est déroulée hier soir au Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione ! 🎪 Une soirée dédiée aux entreprises et aux écoles labellisées Happy Index Trainees et Happy At School 2024, qui permettent aux stagiaires, alternants et étudiants d’évoluer dans des environnements motivants et bienveillants. Action a obtenu une note de 70/100 aux scores Happy Trainees Alternance et Happy Trainees. Nous sommes très fiers de ces scores, qui mettent en lumière le talent de nos managers et leur capacité à intégrer et faire évoluer nos jeunes collaborateurs. Nos alternants et nos stagiaires ont partagé des retours positifs à propos de leur expérience au sein d’Action : « Ce qui me plait le plus c’est les différentes opportunités qui s’offrent à moi à la suite de l’alternance et même durant l’alternance » , « J’aime bien la multiculturalité de l’entreprise et la possibilité que tout le monde puisse évoluer s’il travaille bien » ont témoigné certains d’entre eux. This morning Action released its trading update for the first nine months of 2024.   Throughout this period, Action’s good development has continued, and growth is driven by an increasing number of customers after lowering thousands of prices. With the tremendous engagement of our colleagues, we look forward to opening a significant number of new stores during the remainder of 2024 and continue the fast development in Southern Europe. Action’s growth is based on the satisfaction of its customers.
