I'm glad to share the newly published report, "Assessment of the Progress of the Egyptian Strategy for Technical Education (TE 2.0)", developed by PPMI | Part of the Verian Group on behalf of the European Training Foundation (ETF). The report was commissioned by the European Union Delegation in Egypt at the request of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE). It has been such a great pleasure to contribute to this critical and timely assessment of Egypt's TE 2.0 strategy. The report highlights significant achievements, addresses existing challenges, identifies strategic areas for improvement, and proposes priority actions to sustain and further enhance these reforms. PPMI, together with TNO Vector, is pleased to lead the European Commission project 'A Space for the Metaverse - Virtual World and the Transition to Web 4.0'. 💡 The project aims to assess key developments in Internet technologies and provide a basis for a global dialogue on the governance of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds. 📌 This week marks an important milestone in the project, with the Global Multistakeholder High-Level Conference on Governance of Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds, for which the project team has developed background papers with extensive input from the wider community.
And that’s a wrap on the Global Multistakeholder High-Level Conference on Governance of Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds, hosted by the European Commission and the #PolishPresidency of the Council of the EU. Over two days, policymakers, technologists, academics, and community leaders discussed the impact of virtual worlds and Web 4.0 on the future of the global internet and its governance. Across eight parallel sessions, we explored policy and technical principles, along with the action areas needed to shape the digital landscape of tomorrow. 🤝A special thank you to the brilliant Carol Roach, with whom I co-chaired the sessions on 'Human rights and trust in the immersive future' and 'A robust multistakeholder governance for the future internet in the era of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds'. 🎤A shout out as well to my fellow moderators and co-authors of the conference background papers: Ruta Gabalina, Egidijus Barcevicius, Tom De Koninck, Omar Niamut, Ming Chen, to experts Mariëtte van Huijstee, Olaf Kolkman, and Prof Souichirou Kozuka for their invaluable contributions in the lead-up and on the day of the conference, and to Florence Ranson for guiding us through the two days. It was humbling to hear everyone’s insights and to meet the broader community we engaged with beforehand. ➡️The work doesn’t stop here. We heard many valuable contributions, which will be reflected in the revised principles and recommendations. Stay tuned! #Web4.0 #VirtualWorlds #InternetGovernance
