At Rootcode Foundation, our goal is to give underprivileged kids knowledge and exposure to technology so that they can change their lives as we all did. We commit an entire year to the school we adopt through Rootcode Foundation, visiting the school every month on weekends to teach the students. Last weekend, we kicked things off with the first school visit of Rootcode Foundation's 3rd project at Koralaima Soyza Vidyalaya, Polgasowita! Our Rootcoders spent the day with the students, introducing them to the world of computers, the internet, and digital literacy. From understanding the basics of IT to exploring how the internet connects us all, it was amazing to see their curiosity spark and their eagerness to learn. This is just the beginning of a year-long journey of empowering these young minds with technology education and we can't wait to be back again for our next visit! Last Saturday marked another exciting milestone at Rootcode Foundation! We officially inaugurated the third project of Rootcode Foundation at Koralaima Soyza Vidyalaya, Polgasowita, alongside the warm presence of its students, parents, and teachers. Over the past two years, we've seen firsthand how technology education can spark curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning within students. Seeing this impact on young minds has been incredibly rewarding and only further motivates us on our mission of empowering technology education among underprivileged communities in Sri Lanka. Similar to our previous two projects, this time round too, we will be committing to the school for an entire year, with our Rootcoders visiting the school once a month to spend an entire day teaching the students tech-related subjects. Last week marked our final visit to Mawathgama Kanishta Vidyalaya, the second school we adopted. Over the past year, we dedicated ourselves to teaching technology education to these amazing children. However, we wanted to ensure that even after our foundation year ended, they would continue their journey in learning technology. To support this, Mangala, our COO at Rootcode, conducted a workshop and training session for the school’s teacher, focusing on career guidance in the IT field. While our time with this school has come to an end, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be visiting another school next year to continue our mission of teaching technology education. Last week, we welcomed the students from Mawathgama Kanishta Vidyalaya to our Rootcode HQ. The day was filled with engaging activities and inspiring sessions, and of course, we enjoyed playing Jenga and other games together. Our last school visit was a particularly interesting and engaging one for the students. Using a number of fun, practical demonstrations, our Rootcoders taught the students the basics of data science and analytics, while providing an introduction into robotics and automation.
