The 'Overcoming Infrastructure Barriers to AI Adoption' session, taking place tomorrow at the Global AI Summit on Africa #GAISAfrica2025 will convene policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to explore strategies to bridge Africa’s digital divide, mobilize capital for 4G/5G expansion, and accelerate AI-driven economic transformation.   • In 2024, disasters continued to punctuate the news, with floods, wildfires, and storms devastating communities around the world.     MTN Group and Airtel Africa have signed network infrastructure sharing agreements in Uganda and Nigeria to expand coverage, improve cost efficiencies, and accelerate digital and financial inclusion—especially in underserved areas. MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita highlighted the sustained demand for data services across the continent: “As MTN, we are driven by the vision of delivering digital solutions that drive Africa’s progress. We continue to see strong structural demand for digital and financial services across our markets. To meet this demand, we continue to invest in coverage and capacity to ensure high-quality connectivity for our customers. That said, there are opportunities within regulatory frameworks for sharing resources to drive higher efficiencies and improve returns.” This partnership reflects a growing global trend in infrastructure sharing, enabling operators to manage costs while enhancing service quality.
