We recently hosted an engaging webinar to discuss the Contested Mobility Norms in Africa: Reconciling Visions, Policies, and Practice report by Amanda Bisong and Franzisca Zanker, published by the Heinrich Böll Foundation earlier this year. The report highlights the disconnect between social and policy norms around mobility in Africa, emphasizing that restrictive policies often fail to reflect societal practices. This creates tensions that hinder effective mobility. Drawing from interviews, the report underscores the need to align policies with social realities and foster leadership that embraces Africa’s intrinsic relationality and openness. Franzisca Zanker Elle a plus de 15 ans d'expérience en recherche dans le domaine de la migration. Elle est co-fondatrice du Collaborative Research Group African Migration, Mobility and Displacement. Ses principaux domaines de recherche sont la gouvernance de la migration, la protection des réfugiés, l'autonomisation des migrants et des réfugiés, les processus de paix et la société civile, avec un focus régional sur l'Afrique. Victor Nyamori Il a 15 ans d'expérience dans le domaine de la migration, ayant travaillé pour le Haut-Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés (HCR), HIAS et Save the Children International avant de rejoindre Amnesty International. Dr. Sabelo Mbokazi Il se concentre sur la migration de main-d'œuvre, l'emploi et la mobilité des travailleurs à travers l'Afrique, plaidant pour une reconfiguration du récit migratoire afin de mettre en lumière son rôle dans le développement social et économique. Il souligne l'importance de politiques qui protègent les travailleurs migrants et encouragent un recrutement éthique, en particulier dans les États du Golfe. Ottilia Maunganidze Experte en droit international et droits humains, elle promeut la sécurité humaine en Afrique en faisant progresser la paix, la responsabilité, l'état de droit et la justice. Les domaines d'intérêt d'Ottilia incluent les menaces sécuritaires émergentes, la justice pénale internationale, le droit international des droits de l'homme, et les tendances et politiques migratoires. Hon. Sheikh Umulkheir Kassim Une politicienne kenyane de premier plan, actuellement députée pour le comté de Mandera. Elle est une figure clé dans la défense de la représentation et de l'autonomisation des jeunes dans le cadre législatif kenyan. Dans le cadre de son rôle, Kassim est activement engagée dans le travail législatif, répondant aux besoins et préoccupations spécifiques de sa circonscription.
