About us
The Association of Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (“AWEIK”) is a nation-wide organization that aims to connect women in Kenya with professional and business opportunities in the extractives value-chain through fostering relationships and sharing knowledge and experiences. Although AWEIK is essentially a networking organization, we have a strong commitment to take part in the broader community and support various causes towards the empowerment of women impacted or affected by the extractives industry in Kenya.

Thanks for the spotlight, Association For Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK)! Seeing myself in your newsletter has me feeling like a gold nugget! 😉 But seriously, this feature highlights a truth we all know: in the wild world of mining, we're all prospectors needing a strong crew. Collective and strategic partnerships aren't just a good idea, they unearth success and innovation! Let's keep collaborating and building powerful alliances! 🤝
Amplifying Vital Voices of Women in Energy & Extractives in Kenya- featuring Juliah W. Muriuki, PhD. Dr. Muriuki emphasizes that stakeholders must #collaborate, asserting that #strategicpartnerships are not just an option but a necessity- she argues that mining is too complex for a siloed approach, and ensuring women’s meaningful participation requires collective effort from governments, mining companies, and academic institutions. Such an interesting read: https://lnkd.in/d_tB_Sgk #WomeninMining #WomenLeaders #StrategicPartnerships #WeMustCollaborate #AWEIKWomen #WomeninBoards

Reflect. Learn. Collaborate. Plan. This week, Women’s Rights Organizations supported by Oxfam’s Women’s Rights Fund (WRF)— IREMO, Usikimye, AWAK, Elevate Her, Association For Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK), and Teenseed Africa—gathered for an end-of-year review meeting. Over two days, they reflected on the challenges, successes and impacts the fund has had on their institutional growth and operation, while strengthening peer learning, collaboration, and joint planning to drive meaningful change. Through the flexible funding, these organizations continue to promote women’s rights and gender justice, ensuring their work remains responsive to the needs of the communities they serve. The meeting also provided a space for the teams to share ideas and train on safe programming and safeguarding, reinforcing sustainable and inclusive approaches in advancing women’s rights. #WomenRightsFund #WRF #CollaborationForChange #Safeguarding #PeerLearning #StrongerTogether #GenderJustice
