It’s great to see the strong ambition and collaboration among our Green Maritime HPO members and Singapore stakeholders. We’re excited about this project from Hyke, in partnership with Zeabuz and SEAGULL PTE LTD. The final details came together during our pavilion at Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), culminating in a bold commitment during the Green Maritime Workshop—to launch a vessel by the next SMW in April 2026. We look forward to following its progress and remain committed to supporting its success here in Singapore.

Last Friday, we hosted the third edition of the Green Maritime Workshop during Singapore Maritime Week. The event featured a mix of presentations, panels, and discussions, bringing together companies to explore the future of green maritime. With 17 speakers covering topics like electric and zero-emission vessels, alternative marine fuels, and energy-efficiency solutions, the workshop highlighted key advancements to accelerate the net-zero transition. We were honored to welcome Kenneth Lim (Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Dr. Shahrin Osman (DNV) as our guest speakers this year. They provided valuable insights into Singapore’s maritime developments, global trends and opportunities to further strengthen the Singapore-Norway partnership. Peggy Soon (Pyxis), Erik Skaarnæs (ZEM - Zero Emission Maritime Solutions), Sveinung Soma (Remota), Oyvind Smogeli (Zeabuz), and Mikael Linnander (Hyke) gave exciting insights regarding the future of autonomous vessels and electrification. They highlighted how these innovations can drive further decarbonization and efficiency. Additionally, HYKE has taken an ambitious step by announcing plans to launch a fully autonomous passenger ferry in Singapore by SMW 2026. This will be carried out in partnership with Zeabuz and SEAGULL PTE LTD. Furthermore, we gained valuable insights into the developments and challenges of alternative fuels from Oddmund Føre (Rystad Energy), Sheen Mao Choong (Equatorial Marine Fuel), and Yngve Schrøder Tufteland (UMOE Advanced Composites AS (UAC)). Their discussions covered a range of alternative fuels along with their advancements in Singapore and globally. Our final segment spotlighted energy-efficient solutions, through insightful discussions from Ray Wen Lim (Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd), Tor Mikal Østervold (ECOsubsea), Carl Rehn (Pascal Technologies), and Patrick Banks (KONGSBERG). They shared innovative technologies and practical solutions that provides ready pathways for the maritime industry's decarbonization journey. The day ended with a cocktail reception, kindly sponsored by Rystad Energy. It was great to see the many conversations and discussions between Singapore and Norwegian stakeholders. Lastly, a big thank you to Leif Trana - Ambassador of Norway to Singapore and our local director Arne Kjetil Lian for their opening remarks, and our director for Trade and International Growth Jonathan Sørbye for expertly moderating all the panels throughout the day. Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2025 and Sea Asia - Anchoring the Global Maritime Marketplace 2025 have come to a close, and what an incredible week it has been! In collaboration with various partners, we hosted not one but two country pavilions in Singapore, featuring 20 Norwegian companies across two major maritime exhibitions, showcasing Norway's contributions to the regional maritime industries. Beyond the pavilions, we organized and supported several key events alongside our Team Norway partners. On Monday, Innovation Norway Singapore supported the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore to host the Maritime Business Forum, focusing on high-level policies and trends driving the green transition and decarbonization in the maritime sector. Wednesday kicked off with a panel session at Suntec Expo Theatre, "Spotlight on Norway," which highlighted partnerships and solutions between the Singaporean and Norwegian markets. Special thanks to Jan Viggo Johansen from Yinson GreenTech, Pia Meling from OSM Thome, and our own director for Trade and International Growth Jonathan Sørbye for moderating the sessions. The session featured panelists from Zeabuz, Remota, ZEM - Zero Emission Maritime Solutions, Hyke, ECOsubsea, Pascal Technologies, UMOE Advanced Composites AS (UAC), KONGSBERG, and Jotron, discussing trends in harborcrafts, energy efficiency and alternative marine fuels, as well as smarter ports with seamless connectivity. Deputy Minister Even Tronstad Sagebakken provided the closing remarks. The event wrapped up with a waffles reception hosted by Innovation Norway Singapore and DNV and waffles served by Sjømannskirken, celebrating the strong Norwegian presence in Singapore during the week. Later, the Norwegian Embassy, alongside Team Norway partners, hosted the semiannual Norway Night, one of the most prestigious maritime networking events globally. It was a fantastic evening of seafood, Norwegian products, and bringing together the global maritime industry. The week concluded with our Green Maritime Workshop, where local and international companies came together to discuss collaborations for the green transition in Singapore and beyond. We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Bjørn Iversen will be joining us as the new Director of our Innovation Norway office in New Delhi and Commercial Counsellor at the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi starting 1st August 2025. Mr. Iversen brings with him a wealth of international experience in management, strategy, and scaling of services and solutions. He currently serves as CEO of Landbrukets Dataflyt, where he has played a key role in advancing the digital transformation of Norwegian agriculture. Bjørn also brings deep insight into the markets in Asia & Middle East, gained from his long career in the Telenor Group, where he held various executive and board-level roles. In addition, he has led and advised various companies in the IT and telecom sectors. We look forward to welcoming Bjørn to our team and are confident his leadership will further strengthen the strong business ties between Norway and India, and support Norwegian companies in the dynamic and fast-growing Indian market! This year’s Norway roadshow took me to Stavanger and Trondheim to talk about the tremendous business and investment opportunities for the Norwegian industry in India. And the timing couldn’t have been better! Just this week, the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and EFTA was formally and unanimously approved by the Norwegian Storting – adding to the strong momentum we are already seeing in Norwegian business engagement in India🇳🇴🇮🇳 It was a true pleasure to team up with our fantastic colleagues at Innovation Norway’s regional offices in Stavanger and Trondheim, our Export Centre in Oslo, Næringsforeningen i Stavanger-regionen, NHO Trøndelag and Embassy of India, Oslo to bring these events to life. Once again Bengaluru is calling! This time for the opening of the Norwegian company Cognite’s new office. The beautiful office space was filled to the brim as the leadership team shared their reflections and ambitions for Cognite in an informal fireside chat. "Cognite is betting on India and is investing millions of U.S. dollars currently and our investment in India will continue to increase," chief strategy officer Hakon Bjerke said to the press. With an ambition of scaling up Cognite and aiming for 100+ employees in Bengaluru, this is the one to watch! What struck me was their unwavering focus on the people who work there. Making sure everyone felt their importance on this great journey that Cognite is on- in India and globally.
