In 1963, Terumo introduced Japan’s first disposable syringe to the market. This innovation addressed a critical health issue: preventing the spread of infections from reused syringes. In the 1950s, recognizing that reusing syringes was leading to the spread of diseases like hepatitis, Terumo decided to tackle this issue by developing the Japan’s first low-temperature gas sterilization method for disposable syringes. With this #innovation and the introduction of disposable syringes to the Japanese market in 1963, Terumo significantly enhanced #patient #safety and revolutionized infection control in #healthcare. But we didn’t stop there. Terumo also pioneered the development of soft bag containers for blood transfusions and infusion fluids, reducing risks of airborne contamination by avoiding the need for air way needles. Today, Terumo remains dedicated to advancing healthcare with a focus on sustainability and patient safety.
