The target date for this merger is set for April 2027. Our group has the vision of "Creating a world-leading insurance and financial group". Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, a subsidiary of MS&AD Holdings, is entering into agreements with the founding family of W. R. Berkley Corporation (‘WRB’) which entail an investment by MSI in shares of outstanding WRB common stock. WRB is a Fortune 500 Company and a leader in specialty insurance lines in the commercial and select parts of the specialty consumer space. From December 2nd to 3rd 2024, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) launched the Paliyan Nature Positive Initiative in Indonesia. In 2024, MSI evolved the Paliyan Wildlife Conservation Forest in Yogyakarta Special Province, which it had been working since 2005, into the Paliyan Nature Positive Initiative. This event was held to confirm the achievements and to share the significance and purpose of the initiative. At the ceremony on December 2nd, representatives from the Indonesian government expressed their gratitude for the many benefits such as securing water sources, and Professor Gadjah Mada University presented the research results on biodiversity. Ms. Sakuma, Managing Executive Officer of MSI, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "We will continue to focus on this initiative by making use of our experience in various initiatives related to natural capital since 2005. We have been working on this social issue based on the idea of mitigating the damage caused by natural catastrophes while utilizing the blessings of nature and protecting biodiversity. Our management plan integrates climate change and natural capital, and aims to simultaneously realize our group’s sustainability by solving social issues. We will continue to make this initiative meaningful in order to realize nature positive." On December 3rd, we visited the Lieutenant Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude for the many years of contributions to the restoration of lush forests through tree planting and environmental education for local residents and elementary school students. He also mentioned that in Yogyakarta, when trees are lost, landslides are likely to occur, and that Indonesia is exposed to natural catastrophe risks similar to those in Japan, such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis, so reforestation is also meaningful as a disaster countermeasure. #msad #msig #incurance #indonesia #sustainability #climatechange

We believe that it is important for every employee to feel that their day-to-day work is connected to the sustainability of society and to work together with customers to resolve sustainability issues. The seventh MS&AD Sustainability Contest was held in Tokyo on November 25, 2024, we encouraged our employees to take on the challenge of solving social issues and sought the idea connected "earning power" of the MS&AD Group. Approximately 360 applicants submitted to the contest from all over the world to address a wide range of sustainability issues, included Climate Change, Natural Capital, Loss Prevention/Mitigation, Human Capital, and Respect for Human Rights. The seven presentations were held at the contest, and Grand Prize was awarded to "Bridge Inspection Support Tool Using AI", which was jointly developed by Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, Susono City in Shizuoka Prefecture and Aioi R&D Lab based in Oxford, UK. The participants heard the precious story that the presenters found out the solution of the sustainability issues their customer faced. Through the contest, every participant was able to deeper understanding of the importance of relationship between their day-to-day work and sustainability issues. ✨ MSIG Hosts an Enchanting ‘Ratri Pranakorn’ Gala to Celebrate The Emperor Club 2025 ✨ MSIG Thailand proudly hosted its annual gala dinner to honor the members of the Emperor Club 2025, a distinguished group of agents, under the captivating theme of “Ratri Pranakorn.” This extraordinary evening transported guests back eight decades to a golden era when Thai tradition started to embrace Western influences, creating a timeless blend of elegance and charm. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Clemens Philippi, CEO of MSIG Asia, alongside Mr. Arnop Pornthiti, Chairman; Mr. Rattapol Gittisakchaikul, CEO; and Mr. Possawee Juengjeerasit, Vice President of Agency Business of MSIG Insurance (Thailand). Their opening remarks set the tone for an evening filled with celebration, appreciation, and inspiration. Global Climate Change Controller Meeting (Day 2) As part of its sustainability activities, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance has conducted the Indonesia Reforestation Project since 2005 in collaboration with the Indonesian government to prevent and reduce natural catastrophes, which is the mission of the non-life insurance business, and to address the global problem of tropical forest depletion. Approximately 300,000 trees have been planted, and monitoring commissioned by Gadjah Mada University has confirmed that the ecosystem has been recovering. 🌲🌲🌲 Since 2024, the project has been developed as the Paliyan Nature Positive Initiative, taking advantage of the knowledge gained so far. On the second day of the GCCC meeting, we conducted fieldwork at the Paliyan Wildlife Conservation Forest in Yogyakarta, the site of the initiative. We trekked in the area where the trees were planted in 2005 to observe how the forest is recovering, and also toured the seedling fields and planted commemorative trees with local elementary school students. Global Climate Change Controller Meeting (Day 1) From November 28th to 29th, 2024, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance held the Global Climate Change Controller Meeting (GCCC meeting) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in a hybrid format, face-to-face and online, for Climate Change Controllers at overseas entities. The meeting was a valuable opportunity for the staff to make them known our group's sustainability policy, common understanding of the group target, the status of disclosure of CSRD, efforts to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. In addition, they have shared in a workshop the integrated approach of climate change and natural capital, and good practice examples of each overseas entity. 🌏 Based on the purpose of the meeting, we selected a hotel that operates based upon sustainability concept including consideration to decarbonization, conservation of natural capital, and collaboration with local communities. 🏨 #msad #msig #insurance #indonesia #sustainability #climatechange MSIG Asia MSIG Indonesia
