𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒: 𝐏𝐅𝐀𝐒 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐩𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲👁️ Jana D'AmatoTothova, our R&D Manager, participated as a panelist at the 𝐄𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 in Athens to discuss the PFAS restriction proposal in the EU. In 2023, clinicians, the Euretina Association, and stakeholders requested ECHA for a derogation on PFAS-based medical devices in ophthalmic surgery, as no viable alternatives exist for over 80% of vitreoretinal surgeries. Responses from industries are under review by ECHA. Addressing PFAS in ophthalmology requires a multidisciplinary approach. 🔬🤝 Moria Surgical has been committed to sustainability since 2018 🌱, offering the EU’s only sustainable multi-use packaging for ophthalmic gases, reducing PFAS waste 🌍.
