🚀 Samhita x Oetiker: Scaling impact together Last year, Oetiker brought about a transformative change in five government schools in Maharashtra by supporting the installation of solar panels, modern infrastructure, advanced learning aids and digital tools. The project empowered students with a future-ready learning environment that prepares them for success. This year, Oetiker is getting bigger and better by scaling up its CSR initiatives to create lasting impact that empowers marginalised communities, especially women and girls, by: 📚 Enhancing education – Equipping government schools with better infrastructure and resources to improve holistic learning experiences. 💰 Financial literacy for women – Providing essential financial knowledge to foster independence and informed decision-making in women entrepreneurs. 🧵💄 Skilling for livelihood – Training women in tailoring and beauty skills to create sustainable income opportunities and drive gender equality. 🎓 Scholarships for deserving students – Supporting underserved young minds with financial aid and access to opportunities for higher education. Through these initiatives, Oetiker is not just giving back, but building a future of opportunities for women who need it the most. Our collaboration with Oetiker is proof that a shared mission is all it takes to build a better tomorrow. On this International Women’s Day, we’re excited to share the Women’s Economic Empowerment index—a powerful tool designed to measure and track the progress of women entrepreneurs, especially in India's informal sector. Unlike traditional indices, the WEE Index focuses on the realities of microenterprises run by women, tracking women’s journey towards more agency and empowerment as a result of our multi-year, multi-intervention blended finance approach. The index is envisaged as a public good, built from the continuous stream of primary data collected directly from the women participants in our various programs across India. Why does it matter? Women make up nearly half of India’s population but their labor force participation rate stands at 41.7% (Periodic Labour Force Survey Annual Report 2023-24). The WEE Index highlights barriers women face in entrepreneurship and helps create targeted solutions to boost their economic independence. By strengthening financial access, improving business opportunities, and fostering gender-inclusive policies, the index is a stepping stone toward a more equitable and prosperous society. Empowering women economically isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s essential for a nation’s growth and development. Let’s work toward a future where women’s businesses thrive and drive real change! #WomenEmpowerment #FinancialInclusion #GenderEquality #InternationalWorkingWomen’sDay

In India, we worship women as mother goddesses and celebrate them as nurturers of life. Mostly though, women aren't prying for this status of divinity. They’d much rather be known for being an innovative farmer, an ambitious entrepreneur, or a skilled artist, and above all, a human being deserving of dignity. Through various interventions sustained over multiple years, designed with a gender-first approach, Samhita has impacted a million Indians, 95% of whom are women. Our programs have supported women across occupation groups like agriculture, animal husbandry, non-agricultural businesses (such as kirana stores, manufacturing, services, artisan work), and daily-wage labour. But the journey isn’t over. Female labour participation in India stands at 41.7%, still below the global average. Meanwhile, over 81% of women employment remains concentrated in the informal sector, meaning a large number of India’s working women earn low incomes, have limited job security, cannot access formal credit, and do not have proper healthcare support. This International Women's Day, we're pledging to continue creating a level-playing field for India’s women entrepreneurs and workers, bringing them closer to opportunities that make them the heroes of their stories. Email us at csr@samhita.org to help fulfill the diverse dreams and ambitions of India’s women—today and every day. Keep an eye out today to know more about the impactful work we're doing for India's women! #WomenEmpowerment #GenderEquality #IWD2025

For over a year now, the Walmart Foundation has been supporting CGF to empower the farmers and FPCs (Farmer Producer Companies) of Maharashtra to become more climate resilient and improve their incomes. We’ve been supporting 12 FPCs and 10,000 farmers, 70% of whom are women, with: - Access to working capital through an RG (returnable grants) model designed for farmers, plus credit guarantee-backed loans for those needing larger financing - Climate-resilient training and access to social security schemes to help farmers adapt better to the challenges of climate change - Market linkages that help secure large buyers for farmers, alongside financial support through grants and infrastructural support that builds capacity With the help of our ecosystem-based, multi-intervention approach, rural communities have achieved sustainable economic improvement, improving the participation of women members and decision-makers in the FPOs and adopting regenerative agricultural practices to combat the effects of climate change. As we continue to get closer to our target of positively impacting the lives of 10,000 farmers, we’re reflecting on the impact we created in 2024. We’re excited to take forward these lessons into the new year and continue improving the quality of life for farmers through the power of collaboration and innovation. #ReturnableGrants #SustainableFarming #ClimateResiliency #EmpoweringFPOs #TheWalmartFoundation
