In India, we worship women as mother goddesses and celebrate them as nurturers of life. Mostly though, women aren't prying for this status of divinity. They’d much rather be known for being an innovative farmer, an ambitious entrepreneur, or a skilled artist, and above all, a human being deserving of dignity. Through various interventions sustained over multiple years, designed with a gender-first approach, Samhita has impacted a million Indians, 95% of whom are women. Our programs have supported women across occupation groups like agriculture, animal husbandry, non-agricultural businesses (such as kirana stores, manufacturing, services, artisan work), and daily-wage labour. But the journey isn’t over. Female labour participation in India stands at 41.7%, still below the global average. Meanwhile, over 81% of women employment remains concentrated in the informal sector, meaning a large number of India’s working women earn low incomes, have limited job security, cannot access formal credit, and do not have proper healthcare support. This International Women's Day, we're pledging to continue creating a level-playing field for India’s women entrepreneurs and workers, bringing them closer to opportunities that make them the heroes of their stories. Email us at csr@samhita.org to help fulfill the diverse dreams and ambitions of India’s women—today and every day. Keep an eye out today to know more about the impactful work we're doing for India's women! #WomenEmpowerment #GenderEquality #IWD2025
