The Infrastructure Planning Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, is proud to announce that Dr Ravi Kant from Centre for Transportation Systems (CTRANS) has successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “#Development of #Performance #Measurement #Model for #Pedestrian #Facilities in #Urban #Areas”. The research was guided by Prof. Shubhajit Sadhukhan and Prof. Ramesh Anbanandam, for the improvement of pedestrian facilities in Indian cities. The Infrastructure Planning Lab is grateful to Prof. S G Deshmukh for his invaluable presence in the final PhD viva-voce examination of Dr Ravi Kant as the external examiner and for his appreciation of the work. The thesis was refined by the constructive suggestions from the SRC members, Prof. Santosh Rangnekar, Prof. Manoranjan Parida, Prof. Uttam K Roy, and Prof. Ram Sateesh Pasupuleti, and examined by eminent academicians Prof. S G Deshmukh and Prof. Ashish Verma. Infrastructure Planning Lab (IPL@IITR) in the Department of Architecture and Planning at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee was established in 2020 with an aim to produce quality research that could help in solving pressing issues in the domain of Urban and Rural Infrastructure Planning. The research group consists of faculty members, Doctoral Research Scholars, Prime Minister's Research Fellows, post-graduate scholars, and under-graduate students. The ongoing research in the lab focuses on domains such as Urban Mobility Infrastructure, Urban Water Management, Public Transportation Planning, Heritage and Tourism Infrastructure Planning, Pedestrian Mobility Planning, Spatial Rural Development, Bicycle Infrastructure Planning, Regional Transit Planning and many more.

We're pleased to share that the #Infrastructure #Planning #Lab was represented at the 104th Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting (#TRBAM2025) in Washington, D.C. by Dr. Manaswinee Kar, Dr. Kar, presented her paper titled "An Enhanced Fuzzy AHP Method for Identification of Potential #Park_and_ride #Facility_Locations in #Delhi, #India", co-authored by Prof. Shubhajit Sadhukhan and Prof. Manoranjan Parida. This research focuses on developing a #systematic approach to identify #optimal #locations for park-and-ride facilities, which can help reduce #congestion and promote #sustainable #transportation in #urban areas. What better than a great start to the New Year with an opportunity to be a part of the huge #Transport_Congregation at the D.C.! Happy to share that I had the privilege of attending and presenting a part of my PhD research work entitled "An Enhanced Fuzzy AHP Method for Identification of Potential Park-and-ride Facility Locations in Delhi, India" in a lectern session at the 104th Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting (#TRBAM2025) held from January 5-9, 2025 in Washington, D.C. USA. It was quite a wonderful experience to attend the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting for the second time in person. I had a great time meeting fellow researchers, friends, experts, and professionals in the transportation field from all over the world. I am looking forward to staying in touch with you all. I am sincerely grateful to my supervisors Prof. Manoranjan Parida (Director, CSIR-CRRI) and Prof. Shubhajit Sadhukhan for their constant guidance and encouragement.
