The journey from Dr Aamir Hameed's "Eureka!" moment in 2018 to Pumpinheart's latest and successful preclinical trial of the 'PReduction' implantable diastolic heart pump to treat advanced stage HFpEF at Veranex's labs in Paris last September was brilliantly presented on Charter Day at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) where it all began.

Throwback at the symposium on ‘PIONEERING THE FUTURE OF SURGERY: MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION’ as part of the Charter Week 2025 at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). The symposium was chaired by Prof Mark Corrigan and Mr. Brian Thornes. I had a great pleasure sharing Pumpinheart’s journey from concept to Startup with an engaging audience, and at the same time learned from the other speakers, Prof Ellen Roche, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr Lucy O'Keeffe, CroiValve and Dr Lara Jehi, MD, MHCDS, Cleveland Clinic. Agree with Brian that the Irish medtech community is very supportive and there is a kinship element to it, and you really get to learn a lot while interacting with the #medtech community. #RCSICharter Donald Hickey Andrew Malone Darragh Colgan Fergal O'Brien Deborah McNamara Cathal Kelly RCSI Tissue Engineering Research Group (TERG) RCSI Innovation Enterprise Ireland MedTech Innovator Spark Crowdfunding https://lnkd.in/eHc8YTqC
