The journey from Dr Aamir Hameed's "Eureka!" moment in 2018 to Pumpinheart's latest and successful preclinical trial of the 'PReduction' implantable diastolic heart pump to treat advanced stage HFpEF at Veranex's labs in Paris last September was brilliantly presented on Charter Day at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) where it all began.

Advanced HF and Transplant Cardiologist Dr. Aditi Nayak joins the Pumpinheart clinical advisory board. Dr. Aditi Nayak is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at BSW Health (Baylor Scott & White) Dallas, TX, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University School of Medicine. She completed her fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, and holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Innovation and Development from Georgia Institute of Technology’s Department of Bioengineering. Dr. Nayak’s primary research foci are: 1. Elucidating biological and social determinants of sex and race disparities in the pathophysiology and management of heart failure; 2. The application of medical device innovation, particularly in the realm of mechanical circulatory support, to address these disparities. She is the recipient of several research awards for her work in these areas, including the prestigious Philip K Caves Award awarded by the ISHLT - International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation in 2022. She has also served as elected chair of the 2023 Gordon Research Seminar for Assisted Circulation. Pumpinheart is delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Shambaugh (CS Engineering Design Services LLC, FL, USA) to Pumpinheart's biomedical engineering advisory team. With sixty one patents, and three issued personal patents, to his name Charles Shambaugh brings his extensive experience designing biomedical instrumentation and Class III medical devices and tools from concept through validation and transfer.
