Two years ago, at the end of 2023, I left everything behind to move to Ireland and see what would happen—and a lot did! Together with my brother marcos valera, we built Dublineros, and through it, I met incredible people. Organizing IT events introduced me to many passionate engineers, including Alan Wagner. Alan Wagner is one of those visionaries who can spot a great idea amidst all the possibilities the future holds. And now, he’s convinced me to take the leap again—flashbacks to 2023—to embark on a new adventure alongside Laura Cardini, Ismael Orellana Bello, and those yet to come. The idea for Nexook started with a simple frustration: Everyone talks about the “creator economy” and “freelancers”… but if you’ve actually tried to monetize your time, skills, or knowledge — you know it’s a mess. ❌ There is no single tool where you can just set up your availability, price and start getting calls right away ❌ The only options are niche marketplaces with manual vetting processes (slow) and expensive And worse: Most platforms treat service-based creators like an afterthought. This is me with my mum and sister, two years ago. My friends and family threw me a small farewell party in Barcelona. I was leaving home to start a new chapter at Google in Dublin — excited, nervous, and deeply grateful. Today, I’m taking an even bigger next step. I’m going all in on building Nexook — a platform designed for the future of work and the service economy, powered by AI. This wasn’t an easy decision. I loved the people, the learning, and the impact. But I couldn’t shake this feeling: Too many talented individuals working independently are trapped by outdated tools, platforms, and processes. We’re entering a new era — where individuals, not companies, are the unit of work. And they deserve better infrastructure. Nexook is my bet on that future.
