  • National Slow Down Day is Wednesday, April 9 An Garda Síochána Meath will conduct a Slow Down Day tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9 across the county. The aim of National #SlowDown Days is to remind motorists of the dangers of speeding, encourage a national conversation on the impact of speeding, to increase overall compliance with speed limits in place nationwide and to deter and detect those that are intent on driving at excessive or inappropriate speed. As of April 8, there have unfortunately been 44 fatalities on Irish roads in 2025. This is a reduction of 14 deaths on the same period in 2024. The message is simple. Slow down. Save Lives. #SlowDownDay

  • Adding to the Greenway Experience Our Active Travel team are completing works on the Boyne Valley to Lakelands County Greenway (Navan to Kingscourt) to further add to the public's enjoyment of the 30km walkway, which opened last May. New water stations, bicycle repair stations, bicycle parking stands, bins, picnic benches and other seating have been installed, as well as the introduction of marker posts at every 1km along the Greenway. Keep an eye out for our new Greenway directional signage and the upgrade of historical mile marker posts and signal points. If you have yet to visit the Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway, it is a great time to do so with the lovely weather set to continue over the weekend!

  • Meath's Primary Coders Creating a Positive Impact We were delighted to attend St Stephen’s National School in Johnstown earlier this week to announce that we are developing a model for STEAM Teams which will be rolled out to 20 National Schools in Co. Meath by the end of 2026, thanks to a €299,000 donation from Meta This pilot aims to bring together the whole school community of management, staff, parents, and children to work collaboratively to co-create a future model for fun and sustainable engagement with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths). This work builds on the model for parental involvement in STEAM developed by OurKidsCode, a research project based in Trinity College Dublin. We look forward to working with OurKidsCode and local schools in building a truly sustainable and scalable model that will have long term and wide-reaching positive impact. For more information on this pilot initiative, please visit https://lnkd.in/eBw9EA4y
