Statement from the Tánaiste Simon Harris on the attack on Sumy City “I am appalled by the brutal Russian missile attack on Sumy city today. Reports that over thirty civilians have been killed, including children, and many more injured in the city streets, going about their daily lives, some gathering for Palm Sunday. I utterly condemn this cowardly attack by Russia, and express deep condolence to the families of those killed. This is just the latest in a series of horrific attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, including the Russian missile attack on Kryviy Rih on 4 April, which killed 20 civilians, including 9 children, and injured many more. Russia has demonstrated yet again it has no interest in peace and is intent on continuing its illegal war. Ireland is working with our European and international partners to support Ukraine in the face of continuing Russian aggression. We will continue to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people”
