Planning permissions fell by more than 50% in three Dublin council areas last year according to an analysis from Ronan McGreevy in the The Irish Times.
CIF Director of Housing and Planning Conor O'Connell said that the State will not reach its target of 50,000 new homes annually unless there is a step change in Government policy.
“The figures suggest that without the introduction of emergency measures, there is a low likelihood of housing supply increasing in the short to medium term,” he said.
Irish Home Builders Association, a constituent member body of CIF, has identified a shortage of zoned land in the Greater Dublin Area and other eastern counties a major impediment to housing targets.
