📢 The long-awaited law supplementing Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation has been adopted On 10 April 2025, law 5193/2025 on the strengthening of capital markets and other provisions was passed by the Hellenic Parliament. Chapter C of this law finally adopts the provisions supplementing Regulation 2023/1114 on Markets in Crypto Assets Regulations (MiCAR) and of Regulation 2023/1113 on Transfer of Funds Regulation II (TFR II). With this development, crypto-asset service providers are now able to validly commence offering their services in Greece under the MiCAR framework. MiCAR, which is directly applicable across all EU member states, sets the applicable EU legal framework governing the offer to the public and admission to trading of crypto-assets and the provision of crypto-asset services by crypto-asset service providers, as well as the prevention of market abuse relating to crypto-assets. At the opening, we welcomed Stathis Kalyvas, Gladstone Professor of Government at the University of Oxford, in a panel discussion on the shifts shaping our world today with managing partners Dimitris Zepos and Yerassimos Yannopoulos. Zepos & Yannopoulos advised the shareholders of Athens Vision, the leading ophthalmologic center in Athens, on its strategic partnership with Sanoptis, a predominant player in the ophthalmological field. The completion of the transaction allows Athens Vision, as a member of the Sanoptis network, to expand the range of medical services in ophthalmology and drive the development of cross-site “best practices”.   Our firm assisted on all aspects of the transaction, including the drafting and negotiation of the transactional and ancillary documentation. Our team provided full-fledged support throughout the tender preparation process and advised on matters pertaining to the contractual arrangement to be eventually entered into by the successful bidder. This project is set to boost the development and competitiveness of Greece's research-technology-innovation ecosystem and will be recognized as one of the most prominent hypercomputing systems in Europe.   Our team was led by Sofia Chatzigiannidou, head of Public Procurement and Concessions, working together with Athanasia Gkouma, partner, and assisted by Dimitris Machaliotis and Sophia Telonaki, associates.
