Our joint venture with #RWE forges ahead with Greece's energy transition. Today we announced that our joint venture company Meton Energy S.A. has taken the final investment decision for the construction of two large-scale #photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Prefecture of #Central Macedonia in Northern Greece. The solar farms Kotyli and Neo Syrrako will have a total capacity of 567 MWp (518 MWac). Construction is planned to start this spring, with commissioning expected in 2027. PPC Group presented its €5.75 bn strategic investment roadmap to convert former lignite sites in Western Macedonia into a green energy and technology hub for Greece and Southeastern Europe. The plan was unveiled during an event held at the former lignite-fired power plant in Kardia. PPC Group’s Chairman and CEO, Mr. Georgios Stassis, presented the strategic plan, and the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, delivered an address.   The plan includes a series of new projects that will generate up to 20,000 jobs during construction and an additional up to 2,000 new jobs during operation.   The new green energy and #technology #hub consists of an installed capacity of over 3,000 MW of #renewables, next-generation units that produce energy through conventional and alternative sources and 860 MW of storage capacity.   This #green #energy will not only serve national needs but will be also able to power Greece’s largest #data #center and one of the biggest in Europe that will be built in the area once an agreement with hyperscalers is in place.   More here: https://lnkd.in/dt9wVrPz   #PPC_Group #transformation #WesternMacedonia #Renaissance #RES #innovation #tech #SDG

One year ago, in Washington D.C., I laid out a set of reasons why the transatlantic partnership especially in the energy sector is critical. Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, in Athens at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), engaging in a dialog for #geopolitics, #connectivity, and #energysecurity!! In an era of geopolitical and energy crises, the transatlantic alliance is more vital than ever. While the “why” remains unchanged — the “how” of our transatlantic collaboration must evolve. We need business-driven solutions that secure mutual benefits. #AI adoption is accelerating, and demand for data centers is skyrocketing. This is where PPC steps in. We are not just an energy provider; we are defining the utility of the future—a clean powertech company that bridges energy and #digital. Our new mega data center development in Western Macedonia (300MW, expandable to 1GW) is a bold step in this direction. By fostering strategic partnerships, we can shape a more resilient, #sustainable, and interconnected future. Engaging in discussions about the energy transition drives progress for a more sustainable and resilient future, and, yesterday, we had the opportunity to participate in the #PowerGasForum, organized for the sixth consecutive year by energypress.gr.   Elena Giannakopoulou, PPC Group Chief Strategy Officer, highlighted that solar and wind energy are the most cost-effective ways to generate electricity. She emphasized that integrating cheaper energy production sources into the system reduces dependence on natural gas.   She also noted that #renewable energy is a strategic pillar for PPC Group. With geographic diversification and appropriate grids, energy can be efficiently transferred from low-cost production areas to where it is needed.   Elena Giannakopoulou also referred to PPC Group’s €10 billion investment plan for the next three years, focusing primarily on #RES and grid infrastructure, as well as flexible generation units and energy storage projects such as batteries and pumped storage.   Concluding, she pointed out that the #EU has a strong domestic capacity in wind and solar energy, which can be leveraged by #renewables for Europe’s security of supply. Combined with investments in grid infrastructure, cross-border energy trade can be further enhanced.   Konstantinos Nazos, PPC Group Deputy CEO Chief of Energy Management, discussed the critical role of #energy management in modern energy markets and PPC Group’s strategy in managing both production and supply.   With PPC Group’s geographic expansion and asset acquisitions in other countries, international #markets have become increasingly important. On March 7th, PPC joined the Women in AI Hackathon 2025, an inspiring initiative powered by Microsoft and hosted by UBITECH. The event brought together talented women from across Southeast Europe, showcasing how AI can drive meaningful change when diverse voices are at the forefront of innovation.   During the hackathon, Mrs. Effie Presvia, CTIO of PPC, joined an inspiring roundtable with Yanna Andronopoulou, General Manager for Microsoft Greece, Cyprus, Malta, and Lars Rasmussen, co-founder of Google Maps, and spoke about the importance of fostering diverse leadership in technology, sharing her insights on overcoming challenges and driving innovation in AI and energy. She highlighted that true progress happens when fresh ideas challenge assumptions and push boundaries, emphasizing that “leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about creating the space where diverse perspectives can thrive.”   The hackathon showcased the transformative power of AI in solving real-world challenges. PPC at Renewable EnergyTech Expo 2025 We participated in Renewable EnergyTech Expo at Thessaloniki Expo, the premier exhibition spotlighting the future of green and smart energy in Southeast Europe. At PPC’s dedicated kiosk, visitors had the opportunity to explore: PPC blue – Our EV charging network and solutions, supporting the transition to sustainable mobility. PPC Inspectra – A new initiative providing inspection and certification services to improve energy infrastructure reliability. Energy aggregation services – contributing to smarter energy management.
