Engaging in discussions about the energy transition drives progress for a more sustainable and resilient future, and, yesterday, we had the opportunity to participate in the #PowerGasForum, organized for the sixth consecutive year by energypress.gr. Elena Giannakopoulou, PPC Group Chief Strategy Officer, highlighted that solar and wind energy are the most cost-effective ways to generate electricity. She emphasized that integrating cheaper energy production sources into the system reduces dependence on natural gas. She also noted that #renewable energy is a strategic pillar for PPC Group. With geographic diversification and appropriate grids, energy can be efficiently transferred from low-cost production areas to where it is needed. Elena Giannakopoulou also referred to PPC Group’s €10 billion investment plan for the next three years, focusing primarily on #RES and grid infrastructure, as well as flexible generation units and energy storage projects such as batteries and pumped storage. Concluding, she pointed out that the #EU has a strong domestic capacity in wind and solar energy, which can be leveraged by #renewables for Europe’s security of supply. Combined with investments in grid infrastructure, cross-border energy trade can be further enhanced. Konstantinos Nazos, PPC Group Deputy CEO Chief of Energy Management, discussed the critical role of #energy management in modern energy markets and PPC Group’s strategy in managing both production and supply. With PPC Group’s geographic expansion and asset acquisitions in other countries, international #markets have become increasingly important. By acquiring assets in different countries and applying the integrated #business model that operates in Greece, #PPC Group can fully capitalize on emerging opportunities in an interconnected market, Konstantinos Nazos explained.
