The Innovation Accelerator@Demokritos is a pioneering initiative by NCSR Demokritos, in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Defence and the Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation. As Greece’s first dual-use accelerator, it connects a vast network of national and EU innovation ecosystems. Its mission is to support SMEs in advancing cutting-edge products through dual-use technologies, bridging the gap between business, industry, and defence sectors. Key focus areas include AI, Data, Autonomy, Quantum Technologies, Biotech, Nanotech, Space, Novel Materials, Energy, and Propulsion.

➡️ Meet our Innovators! SaraniaSat Inc. is developing its HEMI solution which is a High-Performance Edge Computing Solution for Multimodal Sensing to Counter Drone Swarm Threats. A very hard problem that HEMI addresses is the Identification and Tracking of Individual Drones within a Swarm. Currently, Single Sensing Modalities such as Radar are expensive and subject to High False Positives (Misidentified Targets) and High False Negatives (Missed Targets) when attempting to track individual drones within a swarm. SaraniaSat is the only company specializing in developing the HEMI solution for robustly identifying and tracking drone swarms via rapid multimodal sensing and analysis. HEMI’s Multimodal Sensing combines the inputs of multiple, optical, acoustic, event and multispectral sensors that are fused and rapidly processed with our advanced Deep Learning Algorithms on High Performance Edge Computers. In the current Asymmetric Warfare doctrine, the risk of deploying a swarm of low-cost attack drones is far lower than the risk of using conventional, expensive military hardware. Thus, the HEMI solution is cost-effective and far superior to the existing state of the art techniques in effectively countering asymmetric drone swarm threats. We are a small, agile team that can rapidly adapt our HEMI solution to the specific needs of our military customers.

➡️ Meet our Innovators! Kelluu provides a persistent aerial platform for ISR, critical infrastructure protection, environmental monitoring, and disaster response. Our UAS operates below clouds, withstands Arctic conditions down to -33°C, and each flight unit can operate continuously for 12 hours. We are silent, and our technology has been proven to function in GNSS-denied environments. Our platform can be equipped with mission-specific sensors and cameras, and when deployed as a swarm of multiple flight units, it enables the collection of massive environmental datasets, creating a highly accurate situational understanding for analysis. When operations require longer reconnaissance times than drones, higher environmental data accuracy than satellites, and technology that efficiently leverages edge computing and AI for large-scale environmental monitoring and analysis, Kelluu is the only option. We are already a commercially operating technology company with the capability to produce thousands of units per year.
