Greta Pender features in the latest edition of Business Brief magazine. The edition is focused on 'opportunities and threats: the future of wealth management' and Greta shares her key insights from February's STEP Global Congress 2025. Greta said: 'From a study of +2,000 students from global business families, it was noted that only 4% intended to start working in the family business and continue there permanently. 'In contrast 88% had no intention of succeeding to the leadership of the family business, and in fact wanted to set up their own business, often in a different sector. 'These figures illustrated the importance of having open discussions with the generations across the family and implementing succession strategies for the family business, especially if this is to be externalised outside of the family.' When it comes to managing the complex and diverse asset portfolios of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), flexibility is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. In a recent feature by Spear's Magazine, our Country Head for Guernsey, Kerrie Le Tissier, along with Rupert Pleasant from Guernsey Finance and Greta Pender from Collas Crill Trust and Corporate Services, discuss why Private Trust Companies (PTCs) and Private Trust Foundations (PTFs) are becoming the preferred structures for ultra-high-net-worth families managing succession planning, asset protection, and long-term governance. “These structures give families the ability to curate their own board of experts,” says Kerrie. “Whether it’s investment professionals, property advisers or family representatives — the right people are at the table, and the risk is shared.” This is especially vital when trusts hold not just investment portfolios, but a mix of private equity, operating businesses, luxury assets or philanthropy-focused funds. At HIGHVERN, we’re proud to support UHNW clients with tailored fiduciary services that balance control, flexibility, and regulatory confidence. Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eWWSDz-6

While the difference between HNWIs and UHNWIs may seem trivial, the reality is that the ‘U’ represents not just a difference in net worth, but a difference in asset types, service needs and financial structuring. In this article published in Spear's Magazine, Greta Pender joins Rupert Pleasant of Guernsey Finance and Kerrie Le Tissier of HIGHVERN in discussing why private trust companies remain an effective structure for preserving the value of significant assets for those UHNWIs. Greta said: ‘Setting up a typical trust structure where the client is handing over full legal ownership and control to the trustee can be quite a daunting prospect, given the scale and range of assets involved. This is where private trustee structures have advantages in providing both reassurance and more hands-on involvement for the client.' Family wealth, whether in the form of a business, assets, or investments, is not only about the material possessions but also the values, traditions and relationships that sustain it. In a world where businesses, fortunes, and legacies are increasingly passed down through generations, the importance of family governance cannot be overstated. In this article Katie Bonfrer (nee Penny) highlights how effective and well thought-out family governance structures can ensure a seamless transition of wealth, values and leadership from one generation to the next. https://lnkd.in/eep2Mdr4 Siobhan Crick | Greta Pender #SuccessionPlanning #FamilyGovernance #TrustedAdvisor
