Women and girls with bleeding disorders are still underdiagnosed and underserved 🩸 These individuals often face delayed diagnoses, limited access to treatment, and a lack of understanding about their unique needs. As the global bleeding disorders community comes together to celebrate World Hemophilia Day, this year’s theme highlights the importance of equity in healthcare, shining a light on the strength, resilience, and contributions of women and girls with bleeding disorders 🏥 We recently marked a decade of support from Sanofi and Sobi - Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (publ) to the World Federation of Hemophilia / Fédération mondiale de l'hémophilie's Humanitarian Aid Program, through the donation of treatment products and financial aid. 💬 “Recognizing women and girls with bleeding disorders is a significant milestone for our community. In the past, they were often viewed solely as carriers rather than individuals with a bleeding disorder. Prioritizing the diagnosis and treatment of women and girls is crucial, and doing so strengthens our entire bleeding disorder community." — Cesar Garrido, WFH President Today is a call to action for governments, healthcare providers, and advocates worldwide to close the gaps in care for women and girls with bleeding disorders Visit the link in the comments to learn more ⬇️ #WHD2025 #WorldHemophiliaDay

The My Child Matters program has supported 164 projects globally to date, helping to give all children with cancer an equal chance to survive. Last weekend, the My Child Matters expert committee, a diverse group of high-level international experts, convened in Paris to review and select proposals for projects to support in 2025 and beyond. This year, we are prioritizing projects that enhance access to care and early diagnosis, with a special focus on innovation. In January we received over 74 applications. After two rounds of review, 14 projects have been selected including: 🌍 7 projects in Africa 🌏 4 projects in Asia & Oceania 🌎 3 projects in Latin America A huge thank you to everyone who submitted proposals and of course to our expert committee for their hard work and insightful decisions. Together we can reach our goal of a minimum survival rate of 60% for all children with cancer by 2030 in support of the World Health Organization (WHO). #MyChildMatters #ChildhoodCancer

Since launching My Child Matters 20 years ago, we have supported 284,064 children with cancer and 58,115 healthcare professionals across 86 countries 🌍 But this incredible progress wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration and dedication of the Childhood Cancer Community. So as we mark this milestone year, we’re shining a light on some of the inspiring individuals helping us reach our goal: achieving a minimum 60% survival rate for all children with cancer by 2030. First up, meet Rehana Punjwani 🩺 With over 22 years of experience, including 18 years in paediatric oncology, Rehana has made an incredible impact. She established Pakistan's first Paediatric Oncology Nursing Education Department, training over 350 nurses nationally and internationally. As a long-time member of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology - SIOP, Rehana also co-leads the review of the My Child Matters nursing grants, advancing paediatric oncology nursing care in low- and middle-income countries. #ChildhoodCancer #20YearsOfMCM

Casimira is a mother and teacher who lives in São Vicente, located about 550 kilometres off the coast of Senegal, West Africa 🌍 She also lives with Gaucher Disease type 1. In 2004, Casimira began her treatment for Gaucher Disease type 1 through our Rare Humanitarian Program. Whilst shipping to a remote location hasn't always been straightforward, she has remained on treatment for more than 20 years meaning she could celebrate her 50th birthday surrounded by friends and family. Casimira is one of more than 150 patients who have been receiving access to treatment through the Rare Humanitarian Program for 25+ years. We are dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by patients with rare diseases through innovative solutions and comprehensive support so that every patient can receive the care they deserve. #HumanitarianAid #FoundationS

The ‘Home Away From Home’ initiative by Childhood Cancer International and Foundation S is making better housing possible for children with cancer around the world, including in La Paz, Bolivia. One of the grants from Foundation S’s inaugural HAFH program last year, the #FundacionNuestraEsperanza was recently opened by Alejandra Mendez, Vice President of CCI, and marked a significant milestone for the childhood cancer community in Bolivia. The purpose of HAFH is to decrease treatment abandonment by helping CCI member organisations provide a second home for young patients and their caregivers, close to health services. Applications for the second phase of the program are now open, so if you are looking for support with: ✅ Capital projects: construction, purchase or expansion of homes. ✅ Operational programmes: rental, maintenance or service support. Apply by sending your application to programmemanager@cci.care, by the 16th of May, 2025. #ChildhoodCancer #MyChildMatters #HomeAwayFromHome Raluca Popa Carl Queiros
