Happy holidays and end of the year to our community of students, teachers, researchers, colleagues and of partners working in companies, non-profits, universities, social movements and the public sector. 🤝 In this 2023, we expanded our projects and collaborations, not only internationally with the European Commission, ENFASYS HEU, EIT Food, WorldFish/CGIAR, Metabolic, EIIS - European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability, Mine Vaganti NGO and several universities (among which, most recently, Esade, University of Exeter Business School, University of Jyväskylä), but also nationally with an important partnership with Leader France, and locally, with a very meaningful partnership with ÉCOLE INTERNATIONALE ANTONIA and its pedagogy embracing complexity. Other partnerships are formed as we speak, and we hope they will see the light in 2024. 🌍 We worked and collaborated in line with the core principles that drive us: well-being, social justice, resilience, and ecological embeddedness. If these principles resonate with you, and you believe that we need to transform our organizations and society to strive toward them, we hope that our paths will cross in 2024. Most importantly, this year we have started to renew our vision in legacy and continuity with the foundational spirit of our Chair shared since 2021 with Helen Etchanchu. Helen could not work with us this year, but her energy, ideas and inspiration stick every day in our minds and hearts. As we approach the holidays, we dedicate our entire year of work to her. 🌻 🌞 ❤️ 📸 Saint Georges d'Orques, September 2022

📣 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 inspired by 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠! Our Garima Kishor is currently conducting research for her Master of Science (MSc) thesis on a topic we (Garima Kishor, Domenico Dentoni and the other Lab co-founders) are deeply passionate: “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞?” 👉 So, if you’re an entrepreneur who: ➜ Applies systems thinking in your venture, or is curious about it ➜ Uses, or plans to use, tools like systems maps, feedback loops, or reflexive decision-making ➜ Is open to sharing your entrepreneurial experience in a short interview Garima Kishor would truly appreciate the opportunity to learn from you. Your insights will contribute to a broader understanding of how systems thinking can help startups navigate uncertainty, complexity, and cognitive bias. Interviews will be conducted via 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬, and all responses will be 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥. 💡 Business school rankings, and rankings on sustainability - let's be frank: What are we competing about? And what are we competing for? Instead of getting into a 'ranking-climbing mode' no matter what rankings are all about, a better approach is to critically assess what the ranking is actually measuring and promote rankings that measure things that matter. Is the salary after graduation the main measure to compare our schools with each other? Or perhaps the ability to expand the way we think and engage with each other and with our environment - harder to measure, but arguably more meaningful? Thanks to Gorgi Krlev and ESCP Business School for tackling some of these game-changing questions.
🌱 Can we really measure how sustainable a university is? #ESCPEdge with Prof. Gorgi Krlev In the newest episode of ESCP Edge, Prof. Gorgi Krlev (Associate Dean of Sustainability at ESCP) shares fresh insights from his latest research on how we measure #sustainability in higher education — and explores what it really means for institutions and companies to walk the talk on social and environmental impact. Most rankings focus on alumni salaries or career progression. 🤔 But what if we changed the focus? In the full conversation, Prof. Krlev explores what it really means to walk the walk in corporate and campus sustainability — from evaluating institutions more holistically to rethinking how businesses and universities can lead meaningful change. 🌐 He shares powerful examples, from a food waste startup, Phenix to AXA Climate School’s educational initiative with the ESCP Sustainability Institute, showing how both startups and corporates are pushing boundaries and redefining impact. [🌍Online Interview] What about if we reflect on innovative methods for a new style of R&D ? How can we design a strategy that consumes fewer resources, is more inclusive to the public we serve, and is more effective? In a time when our planet's resources are limited, the need to rethink our innovation strategies has never been more urgent. In our recent interview with Quorus,Boris Plantier alongside my colleague Elsa Kassardjian, MBS School of Business we explored how Frugal Innovation can be a response to this challenge. This strategy, which takes into account the current social, economic, and environmental situation, offers more sustainable, inclusive, and efficient solutions for the development of products and services. Frugal Innovation is not only applicable to developing countries but can be a key strategy for all business sectors looking to be more responsible with the environment and better connected to consumer needs. 📍 https://lnkd.in/dN7BupYd 🔹 Chaire BEST piltotée par Walid A. Join our next Systems Mapping & Co-Design Lab meeting on May 12! This thriving Lab is a spin-off of our Chaire COAST | MBS School of Business (in memory of Helen Etchanchu): a platform dedicated to learn together and promote systems thinking, mapping and change tools in France and much beyond.
Join us on May 12th, 15:00 - 17:00 CET in a collective dialogue with Hannes Van den Eeckhout (Rootical) and with Ivo Degn (Climate Farmers). 👇 Details of our two speakers and for registration are below! ⁉️ Please feel free to pose your questions to the speakers here below even before May 12. We will do the same. 🎦 We will record the meeting - and the presentations, if the speakers will allow - for those interested who cannot attend. 💡 Would you like to propose yourself as a future speaker? Or discuss in depth a systems mapping & co-design topic that is relevant for your practice? Organise another meeting that is more attuned to your time zone? 🙏 Then please contact one of us - Domenico Dentoni, Rahmin B., Carlo Cucchi, Marija Roglic, Rob Lubberink🟥 and/or Timothy Manyise - to discuss the options.
