AI has the potential to dramatically improve many aspects of our lives. It can automate repetitive tasks, boost productivity, free up time for more creative work and help us innovate. This is equally true of AI’s application in private equity. Marc Boullier, Head of Digital, IT & Data at PAI and a Managing Director in the PAI Performance Group, recently spent time with AFP to talk about AI’s application at PAI and across our portfolio. This includes Alfred, the firm’s own conversational AI tool, which acts as an extension of deal teams and can read and summarise thousands of pages in a matter of seconds – a critical advantage when assessing a potential acquisition during due diligence. AI is also being applied across the firm’s portfolio companies, such as Armacell, a leading global manufacturer of advanced insulation and engineered foam products, where the translation of thousands of product data sheets into multiple languages has supported the company’s global sales and expansion. The acquisition will be made through the PAI Mid-Market Fund (PAI MMF), PAI’s fund dedicated to mid-market opportunities. With a customer base spanning 17,000 veterinarians, farmers and pet stores, Nuzoa provides a comprehensive suite of products and services, including pharmaceutical products, equipment, consumables, pet food and pet accessories, as well as digital and laboratory services. The company has a proven track record of growth through consolidation and is driven by strong underlying sector dynamics, including rising pet ownership, an ageing pet population and increased consumer spend on pet health and wellness. We look forward to working with the Nuzoa management team to build the company into the leading European integrated animal health platform - supporting its international expansion and diversifying into other value-added services for its expanding customer base, leveraging PAI’s platform of resources. PAI Partners is pleased to announce its agreement to sell a significant minority stake in European Camping Group (ECG), a European leader in outdoor accommodation, to a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). PAI will remain the majority shareholder in ECG. Since 2021, PAI has been actively investing across ECG’s sites and mobile-homes fleet, upgrading facilities and enhancing amenities to elevate the guest experience, while driving revenue growth and profitability. The transformational acquisition of Vacanceselect in 2023 further accelerated growth, solidifying ECG as the only true pan-European platform in the outdoor accommodation sector. We are delighted to welcome ADIA as our fellow shareholder for the next stage of growth, sharing our vision for ECG and the opportunities to build on its success. We look forward to working alongside the ECG management team as we continue to invest to sustain growth and strengthen the company’s position in the €7 billion European outdoor accommodation market.
