Türkiye's economy has recently improved. Inflation is gradually declining and external imbalances are subsiding. To boost productivity and sustainable growth, it is necessary to maintain credible and prudent macroeconomic policies while implementing structural reforms. The OECD forecasts GDP growth at 3.1% in 2025 and 3.9% in 2026. https://brnw.ch/21wRU8m

Regulations are often seen as burdensome for citizens and businesses, while weak enforcement can raise concerns about government effectiveness in protecting people and the environment. The OECD #RegulatoryPolicy Outlook 2025 explores how reform can deliver better rules for people, the planet, and the future. ➡️ Regulating for people: Only 33% of OECD countries provide direct feedback to stakeholders, missing the chance to make engagement more meaningful and encourage future participation. ➡️ Regulating for the planet: A first step is engaging stakeholders to understand the varied impacts of environmental risks and address resistance to policies and regulations. Another is to review rules with a “green lens” of environmental sustainability, something that, currently, only 21% of countries do. ➡️ Regulating for the future: To better support innovation while managing risks, governments must embrace adapt-and-learn approaches and use horizon scanning and strategic foresight to improve anticipatory governance. Improving institutions’ resourcing, skills and expertise helps build crucial knowledge to oversee and enforce the development of new technologies, while adequately protecting people from harm. The need for strategic infrastructure investment has never been greater. From maintaining essential services to addressing climate change and shifting demographics, governments must balance immediate priorities with long-term sustainability. This will require important investments in new and sustainable infrastructure. Countries will need to: ➡️ Implement regulatory, financial, commercial and labour settings that enable the faster delivery of sustainable infrastructure. ➡️ Persuade citizens of the need to accommodate new low-emissions and resilient infrastructure. ➡️ Engage citizens to gather support for sustainable infra projects. ➡️ Ensure fair and equitable financial contributions to resilient infrastructure. Join us at the 2025 Conference on Infrastructure Governance on 24 April as we set out a roadmap for how countries can improve the policy, regulatory and commercial environment to deliver sustainable, high-quality infrastructure through to 2050. Adolescents suffer the highest burden of anxiety disorder, but what is driving declining mental health in children and young people? The recent rise in anxiety and depression among young people have been linked to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate anxiety, economic and global uncertainty and problematic use of social media. The impact is alarming—between 2018 and 2022, anxiety and depression among under-20s increased by 20%, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29 in the EU. Students experiencing mental distress are also 25% more likely to repeat a grade. But there are solutions. The OECD has identified 11 promising best practices, including: ✅ School-based programmes like Icehearts, which halved the number of adolescents not in employment, education or training. ✅ Proactive mental health support, such as Belgium’s psychological therapy reform, which reduced mental disorders by 10%. ✅ Suicide prevention initiatives, like SUPRA, which reduce risks and save lives. Scaling up these solutions requires investment, but the cost of inaction is far greater. How can we ensure more young people get the support they need?
