Despite the challenging global environment, both chrome ore and ferrochrome production increased in 2024. Chrome ore production across the globe grew by 9% year on year, reaching 39.20Mt, while ferrochrome production rose by 15% year on year, driven notably by China and Indonesia, reaching 18.51 Mt. Today, we are concluding the interview series celebrating the remarkable women in the chromium industry. We hope that their testimonies have been a source of inspiration for you, and that they have encouraged you to strive for excellence in achieving your goals. We also hope that their contributions will help to create a more inclusive and equitable world, where everyone has the opportunity to become the person they aspire to be. For this final post, we had the pleasure of conducting an interview with G. Şeyda Çağlayan, who serves as the General Manager at TMS Afarak Group SE. Ms Çağlayan was the first woman to join the ICDA Council in 1995. Seyda is a mining engineer and has successfully made her way in what was then a very male-dominated environment; women like Seyda have paved the way so that our generation can contribute to the fascinating sector of mining and metals.
