New deal for Chausson! #Impact #CircularEconomy Underdog raised €7M in a Series A to become the European leader in refurbished large appliances and has already proven that a circular industrial model can be both sustainable and economically viable. Their ambition: set refurbished as the new standard in the industry. The funding is led by BNP Paribas & Serena, in addition to its historical investors daphni, SISTAFUND and Founders Future. What happens when you bring together 200+ founders, operators and investors to talk about French AI? You get a room buzzing with sharp ideas, real use cases, and (refreshingly) no hype. Together with Revaia and Galion.exe, we had the pleasure of co-hosting The French State of AI at Google Paris — an evening dedicated to what’s really shaping AI in France today. From climate tech to compute infrastructure, the message was clear: AI is changing the world. On the Climate front, Lucile Ritchie (Entalpic) and Olivier Pin (Deepki), moderated by Laurence Hémery, showed that while regulations may be softening, players like Entalpic and Deepki are thriving by aligning sustainability and economic value. Entalpic reminded us that GenAI isn’t just about language — it’s also a powerful tool for designing cleaner, more efficient chemical processes. At Deepki, the challenge is different: demand for AI is high, but most clients still lack a clear “how” and “why” to truly adopt it. In the Performance discussion, Adina Yakefu (Hugging Face) and Louis Abraham (H Company & Sciences Po), moderated by Willy Braun, made a strong case for open source. The “big vs. small models” debate? Missing the point. Both will coexist — and smaller models are already showing impressive results in many real-world cases. On the Energy side, Théo Alves Da Costa (Ekimetrics & Data for Good), Xavier Blot (Zenon & emlyon business school), and JB Rudelle, moderated by Anaïs Blarel, helped us zoom out. Model efficiency is improving — but total energy consumption keeps climbing. And even in France, with our nuclear advantage, infrastructure remains the real bottleneck. The next frontier? AI-optimized energy systems.
