As CFO of Ocean Rainforest, Farah will oversee financial management, fundraising, financial strategy, risk, compliance, and legal matters. About us
Ocean Rainforest Sp/F (ORF) is a limited company located in the Faroe Islands producing seaweed in open ocean cultivation installations. The company has developed a structural system for macroalgae cultivation in open oceans and related on-shore processes for bringing the seaweed into a storage stable condition. The offshore MacroAlgae Cultivation Rig (MACR) developed by Ocean Rainforest has since 2010 proven itself to be the state-of-the-art offshore seaweed cultivation system in the world with higher growth rates and lower cost than other known offshore systems for similar seaweed species. The system is scalable, survivable, the growth is predictable and sustainable. Since 2014 Ocean Rainforest has supplied the European food and feed market with high quality seaweed products.

OCEAN RAINFOREST EXPANDS GLOBAL REACH AND PRODUCT PORTFOLIO Ocean Rainforest is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 60% stake in the Mexico-based company Alamarsa, owner of the renowned ALGAMAR brand, celebrated for its biostimulants and food products derived from giant kelp and other seaweed species. Recognizing that the agricultural system is responsible for one-third of carbon emissions worldwide, #biostimulants help farmers transition away from conventional farming practices all while strengthening their resilience against climate change. This strategic acquisition will significantly expand Ocean Rainforest’s product portfolio and strengthen its global market reach. By integrating Algamar’s expertise and well-established brand, Ocean Rainforest will further enhance its capacity to deliver sustainable, high-quality seaweed-based solutions to customers worldwide. Following this acquisition, Ocean Rainforest is now able to produce biostimulants and other advanced seaweed-based products, at its facilities in Santa Barbara, California, the Faroe Islands, and at Algamar’s processing facility in Ensenada, Mexico, sourced from #seaweed species cultivated in both the North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and serving the U.S., European, and Mexican markets. The collaboration combines Algamar’s expertise in seaweed extraction and processing with Ocean Rainforest’s advanced open-ocean seaweed farming technology, creating opportunities to develop innovative, sustainable solutions that can be scaled for the global market. As the year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on 2024, as it has been an extraordinary year for Ocean Rainforest, marked by significant milestones and achievements: -> In the spring, we had the honor of hosting Ursula von der Leyen, recognized by Fortune 500 as one of the most powerful women in the world. -> We hosted Seagriculture Conference Europe in June, bringing together key stakeholders from across the industry. -> We seeded and deployed cultivation lines in Denmark and supported SINTEF Ocean in deploying our ocean cultivation unit in Norway. ->We successfully closed our Series A+ capital raise in August. ->Through our joint venture in Iceland, #LavaSeaweed, we demonstrated exceptional growth rates for red #seaweed species. -> In California, we successfully harvested and processed seaweed at our ARPA-E Mariner co-funded operations and submitted an application for a 2,000-acre commercial cultivation site off Ventura, Southern California. Significant progress was made in the SeaMark project, with notable results in processing and product development. ->We expanded our processing capabilities in the Faroe Islands to include the extraction of bioactive compounds. -> During our participation at Food ingredients Europe, we released a new company video, Ocean Rainforest: The Future Lies Beneath the Waves, which you can watch at https://lnkd.in/djP8-c62. -> We continued to expand our team of passionate "Ocean Rainforesters" across Europe and North America. The Ocean Rainforest team in Santa Barbara held their first open house event to invite the community for a night of tours, talks, and education. The evening featured tours of the on-site kelp hatchery lab, a walkthrough of state-of-the-art kelp processing machinery, product demonstrations, and short-film screenings. The open house successfully engaged a variety of stakeholders, from local government representatives, researchers, potential customers to nonprofit organizations. The participants were enthusiastic to learn about Ocean Rainforest's projects both present and future.
