The technical infrastructure of digital advertising is transforming. The disappearance of third-party cookies, increasing browser restrictions, and tightening privacy regulations are challenging the logic of browser-based advertising. Publishers are now looking for better ways to manage their data, performance, and ad inventory. Trusted Server might be part of the answer. IAB Tech Lab developed Trusted Server, an open-source server-side solution designed to give publishers more technical control over programmatic advertising. Shifting key advertising processes from the browser to the server enables better data control, reduces third-party dependency, and improves site performance. Although Trusted Server is still under development, it is already generating significant interest and discussion. Is it a real solution—or just another layer of complexity?
