In 2024, Santander X supported over 52,500 businesses and entrepreneurs across 11 countries, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to economic growth and business development in the markets where it operates. Through Santander X, businesses gain access to free training, benefits, discounts on technology products, advisory services, and opportunities to participate in global challenges and awards. These resources help businesses scale and innovate. In addition, Santander continues to provide financial support to over 4.3 million SME customers, with €330 billion in financing disbursed in 2024 to create and grow businesses, including 530,000 SMEs and sole traders. The Center for the Governance of Change at IE University has published a new report on the intensifying geopolitical pressures shaping today’s technological landscape. As digital power shifts towards authoritarian regimes like China and private tech giants in the United States, the European Union’s value-driven regulatory model is increasingly under threat. The report calls for Europe to move beyond its focus as a regulatory superpower and take on a strategic digital leadership role. Internally, this means reinforcing the EU’s digital governance with stronger international representation and more effective enforcement. Externally, it involves forging alliances with like-minded countries in the Global North and South—such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Canada—to promote a more open, secure, and democratic digital order. El proyecto de investigación “TranslationalStress”, de la Asociación dalecandELA org, ha sido uno de los ganadores de la XVI edición de Euros de tu Nómina. Su objetivo es avanzar en la investigación de la Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA), una enfermedad neurodegenerativa sin tratamiento ni cura. Gracias a este proyecto se financiará la investigación para la traslación efectiva de dianas terapéuticas de modelos preclínicos a pacientes de ELA. Además elaborarán terapias personalizadas para la ELA con el uso de información genómica. DalecandELA es una asociación fundada por Jaime Lafita en 2019, tras su diagnóstico de ELA. Su misión es dar visibilidad a la enfermedad, impulsar la investigación como única vía hacia una cura y apoyar a pacientes a través de iniciativas centradas en la música, el deporte y la cultura. El programa "Euros de tu Nómina", a lo largo de sus 16 ediciones ha repartido más de 6 millones de euros y apoyado a más de 600.000 personas. In 2024, total shareholder remuneration reached an all-time high for Santander of close to €6.3 billion — six times more than in 2014. 📈 We paid out almost half of that in a cash dividend charged against our 2024 earnings which was up 19% year-on-year per share, and the other half in share buybacks.
