Meanwhile, the Atlanta International Airport store, located in the world’s busiest airport, integrates AiFi’s advanced computer vision technology to provide a 24/7 autonomous shopping experience. To optimize queue management and enable automatic payments, these fully autonomous stores enhance convenience and optimize efficiency, setting a new standard in the industry. Last week, we hosted the third edition of our #AreasforChangeChallenge, developed with Plug and Play Tech Center, a global innovation platform. During the event at our Barcelona headquarters, the selected startups presented innovative solutions to drive sustainability in our points of sale. These companies will collaborate with Areas, access our international network, and develop a pilot program at one of our establishments. 🏆 We are thrilled to announce this year’s winners: ♻️ Krill Design (Italy) – Upcycling category: Transforming organic waste into eco-friendly materials using circular economy principles and 3D printing technology. 🌍 The Predictive Company (Spain) – Energy Efficiency category: AI-driven energy management that optimizes building operations, reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. 💧 RAIN Pure Mountain Spring Water (USA) – Alternatives to Plastic Bottles category: Sustainable spring water in resealable aluminum bottles, eliminating single-use plastics. Last week, Blanca López Alerm, Communications, Sustainability, and Customer Experience Director at Areas, took part in a roundtable discussion organized by KPMG and La Vanguardia, moderated by journalist Montserrat Baldomà.
