Last week, a small Anchor Point delegation visited 2 of Barcelona's universities—TecnoCampus and Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia | CITM (UPC)—to deliver presentations about our studio, our mission, our jobs. Sharing more about our studio and culture, witnessing the students' passion and curiosity, answering their questions and thoughts reminded us of why we love this industry and why we do what we do. 🎮 To everyone who showed up: thank you for your energy. We can't wait to see you shape the future of gaming—maybe even with us! 🚀⭐ #AnchorPoint #Hiring #VideoGames #Barcelona

Last but not least in our Intro series are Daniel and Dónal, our Lead AI/ Backend Engineers, respectively. 🤩 🚀Daniel Brewer 🔸Role: Lead AI Engineer 🔸Fav game: Deus Ex "I started programming at a very young age, manually typing pages of BASIC code from books and magazines into a Commodore 64 and this sparked a life-long passion for games and interactive experiences. My break into the games industry was at Digital Extremes, where I was fortunate enough to work on several games, including Dark Sector, Bioshock 2, The Darkness 2, DLC for Halo 4, and Warframe. I could feel a grin growing on my face while listening to Paul's pitch for the game. Fresh and ambitious—just the challenge I was looking for. The team has a wealth of talent and experience to draw from and everyone is genuinely excited about the project. I'm excited to be onboard and see what we can build together!" 🚀Dónal Mac Carthy 🔸Role: Lead Backend Engineer 🔸Fav game: Helldivers 2 "I've worked on a bunch of AAA multiplayer games in Unreal Engine with teams from all around the world, doing everything from Engine Programming to Content Pipelines. Multiplayer games are my thing, and it's not often a great team with a cool idea comes along. From the very first conversation I had with the team I was excited about not just the game but the people."

Gameplay programmers. What do they do?💡The short answer is, they write the code for the interactions that make a game fun to play. The longer answer is... for another day. For now, meet Tim, Hector and Guillem! 🚀Tim Strauss 🔸Role: Lead Gameplay Programmer 🔸Fav game: Rocket League "I love to make games for the same reason I love to cook: I like putting my craft and effort into something, and giving it to someone to enjoy! I've worked on Indie titles on PC, VR games across multiple platforms, mobile apps/games... both for smaller indie studios and larger ones like Jagex and Improbable. One of the cooler things I've made outside of games was the competition apps for the X-Factor TV Show! Anchor Point was exactly what I was looking for. A great team, making a cool game! There are no egos here, just a bunch of passionate developers doing their best to make a great game. I was immediately drawn to the team from my first interview, but after hearing the full pitch from Paul I was hooked. I've never been so excited to share a product with the world, can't wait to play it with you!" 🚀Hector Esbri 🔸Role: Senior Gameplay Programmer 🔸Fav game: Return of the Obra Dinn "I worked for almost 10 years as an engine and gameplay programmer, contributing to a team that develops multiplayer shooters for mobile and portable platforms. Then, for the past 4 years, I have been focused on working on AAA games using Unreal Engine. I knew several of the team members before joining, and I was excited by the concept of the game and the challenges it presented from the very start. I also felt it was a great opportunity to help build an awesome team, an exciting project, and the studio culture from its very inception. Joining the team felt like the perfect choice." 🚀Guillem Ferré 🔸Role: Senior Gameplay Programmer 🔸Fav game: Suikoden 2 "I studied physics and did a PhD in computational physics, but realized that research was not fulfulling enough so I moved into game programming. I have been working as a gameplay programmer for 7 years, first on some local mobile game companies working on turn-based RPGs and multiplayer shooters, and for the past 4 years on AAA games made in Unreal Engine. Being able to be part of a project and a company from the very beginning is something that I always wanted to do. As I already knew some of the members of the team before joining, Anchor Point presented the perfect opportunity. When presented with the concept of the game, I was eager to work on the challenges it poses."
