👨💼 AID4GREENEST project partner ePotentia’s Dr. Michael Sluydts has participated in the recent 5th EMMC ASBL - European Materials Modelling Council International Workshop. At the workshop, Dr. Sluydts presented a poster on ‘Generating, sorting and standardising microscopy data with Artificial Intelligence’. The poster was the work of Dr. Sluydts, along with his ePotenia colleagues Dr. Dr. Daria M. Tomecka and Catharina Jaeken and Ghent University’s sepideh khalatabad, Prof. Leo Kestens, Dr. Minh Tuan Nguyen and Dr. Stefaan Cottenier. Modern Artificial Intelligence (#AI) methods offer the potential to revolutionse the prediction of material properties and the optimisation of processes. However, creating robust AI models requires access to large standardised databases. Within the #AID4GREENEST project, ePotentia and Ghent University are developing self-supervised methods to automatically sort and curate large scanning electron microscopy datasets of steels by organizing them into a microstructural space. Our sister projects also participated in the workshop, including MatCHMaker - HorizonEU, AddMorePower Horizon Europe project 101091621, CoBRAIN Project, Knowskite-X and the D-STANDART Project. 👨🔬 On April 7th, #AID4GREENEST Project's very own Yoav Nahshon from Fraunhofer IWM took the stage at the MatCHMaker - HorizonEU Workshop on Data Life Cycles in Materials Modelling and Characterisation, held at Technische Universität Wien. There, he presented on "Interoperable CHADA: A semantic approach for managing and exploiting characterisation data and protocols". Yoav introduced the #CHADA (CHAracterisation DAta) app and workflow being developed within AID4GREENEST - designed to bring greater structure, interoperability, and usability to characterisation data across complex materials R&D workflows. The event, hosted by our sister project MatCHMaker and co-organised by the EMMC ASBL - European Materials Modelling Council , also featured insightful contributions from fellow EU projects: 🔹 AddMorePower Horizon Europe project 101091621 🔹 CoBRAIN Project 🔹 Knowskite-X 🔹 D-STANDART Project Together, a number of topics were explored, including: ✅ Pain points and bottlenecks in data life cycles ✅ Transferability of workflows and best practices ✅ Real-world impact on industrial partners and materials innovation 🙌 A big thank you to the organisers and to all participating projects! Maxim Zapara, Dirk Helm, Dr. Jennifer M. Reichert-Schwärzle, Kiran Kumaraswamy, Lukas Morand, Ilchat Sabirov.
