We are excited to welcome Michael Hannibal as Chief Commercial Officer of Stiesdal Offshore. Michael joins us from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), where he remains a Partner while stepping into this new, dedicated role to help drive forward the industrialization of floating offshore wind. His move follows CIP’s entry into Stiesdal Offshore’s circle of owners in October 2024. That strategic partnership marked the beginning of our transformation from a technology developer into a full-scope industrial partner in floating wind - offering not just our foundation design, but full project enablement services. Michael Hannibal brings more than 20 years of offshore wind experience to the table and has played a key role in shaping the industry - both commercially and technologically. He began his journey at Bonus Energy in 2004, which later became part of Siemens Wind Power and eventually Siemens Gamesa. There, he rose to become CEO of the company’s offshore division, a role he held from 2011 to 2017. Under Michael’s leadership, Siemens Gamesa became the global market leader in offshore wind, accounting for more than 60% of all installed capacity worldwide. In 2017, Michael made the leap to the investment side of the sector, joining CIP as a Partner. Since then, he has played a leading role in large-scale offshore wind projects across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., and has been a driving force in bringing floating offshore wind closer to commercial reality. With experience from both the OEM and investor sides of the table, Michael offers a very strong combination of technical insight and business acumen. He has worked across the entire value chain - from turbine development and project execution to financing and partnerships. At Stiesdal Offshore, Michael steps into a key role helping to shape our market strategy, strengthen our partner network, and ensure commercial execution. His experience will help us deliver on our mission: to reduce cost and complexity in floating wind projects. “I am excited and privileged to join Stiesdal Offshore as CCO at a crucial time in the development of floating offshore wind. It’s an interesting and challenging new role where I can leverage and combine my industrial and investment experiences from more than 20 years focusing on offshore wind. I’m looking forward to collaborating with developers, suppliers and regulatory bodies to move floating offshore wind forward being a natural part of the energy mix in many countries. I’m joining Stiesdal with a strong ambition of accelerating Stiesdal Offshore as a market leader within floating offshore, and I look forward to working closely together with the team” - Michael Hannibal. A warm welcome to Michael from all of us at Stiesdal. #floatingwind #offshorewind #renewables #energytransition

#pyrolyse #biokul

Today, we are pleased to announce our new floating wind partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global leader in renewable energy investments. Stiesdal Offshore has developed the world’s first truly industrialized floating wind foundation technology, called Tetra. Since December 2021, our floating wind turbine TetraSpar Demonstrator has been operating at 200 meters depth off the coast of Norway with a recorded availability of 97.0% and 98.3% in its first two years, respectively. Joining forces with CIP, we aim to establish Stiesdal Offshore as a long-term leader in the floating wind industry, driving innovation and cost efficiency. We will now initiate a plan to expand the business scope from designing and developing floating foundations to becoming a one-stop shop for floating wind enablement. Peder Nickelsen, CEO of Stiesdal Offshore, says: “We have a clear plan to reduce the CAPEX of floating wind and have developed more than 30 specific initiatives to achieve this goal. The investment from CIP will enable us to accelerate these efforts and strengthen our market position as we prepare for large-scale commercial deployment of floating offshore wind in the coming years." Michael Hannibal, partner at CIP, adds: "We remain committed to floating offshore wind which we believe will play an important role in the global energy transition. This investment is the next step in our pursuit of large-scale floating wind projects, and together with Stiesdal Offshore we look forward to working towards advancing floating wind technology, overall project execution, and cost reduction.” Market intelligence estimate the global floating wind project pipeline at 200-400 GW, with the majority expected to be operational by 2050. What a week we had inaugurating our SkyClean pyrolysis plant in Vrå, Denmark! Take a moment to watch the highlights from the event, including the iconic moment when three government ministers and a mayor symbolically spread biochar. Around 250 guests, including our entire SkyClean team, attended. Another event highlight was the opportunity to demonstrate the power of #pyrolysis and #biochar as a climate solution by permanently offsetting the emissions from all travel to and from the event (and more) in under an hour. This was achieved through the spreading of 20 tons of freshly produced biochar on the surrounding field. The new pyrolysis plant can treat 40,000 tons of dry biogas fiber residue annually, achieving a climate impact of 42,000 tons of CO2 per year through a combination of carbon removal via biochar and avoided emissions. As we continue the work, we would like to thank everyone who joined us in marking this milestone for pyrolysis and biochar as an important #carbonremoval tool. Special thanks to: Lars Aagaard, Jeppe Bruus, Jacob Jensen, The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Ministeriet for Grøn Trepart, Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Agri Energy Vrå P/S, SAMSON AGRO A/S, Søren Greve Olesen, Martin Odgaard, Claus Haagensen, Andreas G. Celebrating the inauguration of our full-scale SkyClean pyrolysis plant in Vrå, Denmark! We’re excited to share these highlights from yesterday's official opening of what we believe is the world's largest plant of its kind. The SkyClean pyrolysis unit, integrated with a biogas facility, has already produced significant amounts of biochar and pyrolysis gas — but yesterday we officially marked its completion. The plant can process up to 40,000 tons of dry fiber residue from the biogas facility annually at full capacity. A huge thank you to all the guests who traveled to Vrå and joined us for a fantastic afternoon of inspiring speeches, technology demonstrations, and live biochar spreading in the surrounding fields. Special thanks to government ministers Lars Aagaard, Jeppe Bruus, Jacob Jensen and Hjørring Mayor Søren Smalbro, who braved the rain and participated in the symbolic act of spreading biochar (i.e., storing carbon removed from the atmosphere) on farmland. During the event, we offset the climate impact of all 250 guests' travel to and from the inauguration by spreading 20 tons of biochar in the field next to the plant. At full capacity, this new pyrolysis plant has the potential to reduce Denmark's CO2 emissions by 42,000 tons per year through a combination of: - Carbon storage with biochar: 27,000 tons of CO2 - Reduced emissions from fossil energy sources: 11,000 tons of CO2 - Avoided methane emissions: 4,000 tons of CO2 We believe the world is ready to embrace #biochar, produced through the #pyrolysis of farm residues, as an affordable and effective #carboncapture and storage solution. Finally, a big shout-out to everyone who helped make this event such a success—too many to mention here.
