Creating a world that runs entirely on green energy.

Om os

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world. Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and by 2030 we aim to grow this to 35-38 GW. We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder. As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.

Offshore wind has a critical role to play in powering Europe with independent, reliable, affordable green energy. But that’s all at risk. With the industry facing unprecedented headwinds, how can we turn a vicious cycle into a virtuous one? How can we unlock offshore wind’s potential as the cornerstone of Europe’s energy future? Our report, ‘Offshore wind at a crossroads: Reviving the industry to secure Europe's energy future´, explores just that. 📄📊 The report offers in-depth analyses of why Europe needs offshore wind, the challenges currently facing the industry, and the policy and industry commitments that can unlock the potential of offshore wind, and secure Europe’s future. Look at this feat of engineering 👀 The first of Hornsea 3’s two offshore converter station topsides is now on its way to Europe following a successful sail-away from Map Ta Phut in Thailand. Completed by our Thailand-based team in partnership with Aibel and Hitachi Energy, this structure will, once installed, rise 70 m above sea level or 1.2 times the height of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It needed 38 special self-propelled motor transporters – or SMPTs – with 380 axels under the support frames to move it onto the vessel in preparation for the voyage. 💬 “This huge structure is an impressive piece of engineering, which so far has been completed safely, efficiently, on time, and on budget. It’s a testament to the skill of our workers as well as a visual aid demonstrating the complexity and scale of Hornsea 3,” says Luke Bridgman, Managing Director, Hornsea 3. • What do agriculture, innovation, and offshore wind have in common? For Jack, they all come together in one career. With a background in agriculture, Jack never imagined he’d be working on one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. But at Ørsted, where innovation and individual growth are encouraged, he found a way to combine his expertise with cutting-edge technology to drive positive environmental change. 💬 “Ørsted has enabled me to explore new ways of working – whether it’s using digital weather stations, drones, or soil moisture probes to support landowners and make the transition to renewable energy as seamless as possible.” As Land & Property Manager, Jack plays a key role in securing land rights and ensuring that stakeholders – contractors, landowners, and local communities – are supported throughout the lifespan of the project. Working primarily on the Hornsea 3 project, he helps balance the challenges of large-scale infrastructure with environmental responsibility. 💬 “The success of Land & Property is built on relationships. Identifying solutions that work for everyone is a challenge, but an achievable one.” Besides work, Jack is an outdoor enthusiast, a former mountain guide and ski instructor, and an advocate for sustainable land management. And when he’s not working, you’ll likely find him exploring the countryside with his two dogs, Fenn and Tibah.

    CEO & Group President, Ørsted

Today, the members of WindEurope elected me as the organisation’s new Vice-Chair of the Board. Wind Europe is the voice of the wind industry in Europe with over 600 members from across the entire value chain. I’m honoured to take up this position at a time where wind power is needed more than ever to provide energy security, support Europe’s competitiveness, and mitigate climate change. But the wind industry is challenged, and we will make it our top priority to work closely with industry and policy-makers across Europe to urgently address these challenges to ensure that wind energy can deliver on Europe’s critical needs at the speed required. Also congratulations to my good Danish colleague, Henrik Andersen, for being elected as the Chair of the Board. Ørsted Giles Dickson

WindEurope 2025 is just around the corner! Make sure to join the opening sessions with Duncan Clark 🎤   On 8–10 April, we’re proud to once again be an official ambassador of WindEurope. We’ll be tackling the big topics — scaling up offshore wind, innovation, sustainability, engineering, and energy security. Our experts will share insights, challenge industry norms, and explore the solutions needed to accelerate the renewable transition. Together with other industry leaders, Duncan Clark, SVP and Head of Europe Development at Ørsted, will take the stage at the opening session:” Scale up, electrify, deliver” to discuss what we need to do to reach climate neutrality by 2050. 🗓️The session will be held on Tuesday, 8 April at 09:00–10:30 CEST in Auditorium 10-11-12. "Wind is essential for Europe’s energy security, economic competitiveness, and decarbonisation goals. This is bigger than energy — it’s about jobs, industrial strength, and a sustainable future. It’s time for bold action and fresh perspectives to deliver on this promise," says Duncan Clark. 📍Join us in Copenhagen and be part of the conversation. #WindEurope2025 #OffshoreWind

Harnessing the powerful winds at Hornsea 🌬️   With 18.2 GW of installed renewable capacity across three continents, we’re committed to meeting the growing need for renewable electricity. Join our #WorldEnergyTours series as we explore some of our many assets in operation worldwide, starting with Hornsea 1 and 2 in the UK.   Operating out of Grimsby, the two offshore wind farms play a key role in helping the UK achieve its renewable energy goals. With a combined capacity of 2.6 GW, the two wind farms can produce enough renewable energy to power over 2.3 million UK homes. But equally important, they have created thousands of local jobs in construction and operations – and a community fund ensures that the local communities benefit through social and environmental projects.   And we’re already on our way with the next expansion of the Hornsea Zone, currently building Hornsea 3, the world’s single-largest offshore wind farm. When the wind farm comes online, the Hornsea trio will have a total capacity of around 5.5 GW, making it the world’s largest operational offshore wind area.

Today marks a landmark milestone in our offshore construction campaign for Greater Changhua 2b and 4 and we’re proud to announce the successful installation of the offshore substation (OSS)✔️   This achievement is a significant step in our journey, from the initial steel cut back in July 2023, to the Seatrium sail-away in February from Singapore to Taiwan, culminating in the installation of the OSS jacket foundation and final topside.   Despite the challenging weather during this time of the year, the OSS installation went smoothly! The jacket and piles and the topside were transported by Boskalis’s Mighty Servant 3 and Transshelf. The Aegir of Heerema then successfully completed the installation of the OSS. This success is a proof to the dedication and expertise of our team, who maintained the highest standards of quality, health, safety, and environment.   As we advance into the next phase of offshore construction of the 920 MW project, we’ve also completed the installation of first export cable section. With the arrival of the Wind Maker vessel in Taiwan, we’re ready to begin the installation of 66 suction bucket jacket foundations and wind turbines.   Thank you to our suppliers and contractors for their efforts. We look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to a greener world. 🤝
