  • How many offshore wind projects will need HVDC transmission? Offshore wind farms are getting larger, and many are positioned further from shore than previously. This is significantly impacting the demand for #HVDC transmission configurations. But with high costs and long lead times, not all offshore wind projects may secure the necessary transmission in time. How big is demand and will all who need it, be able to secure it on time? 🔹 With Aegir Quant we calculate optimized transmission configurations for all announced offshore wind projects in the world. Which projects will need HVDC and where could other options come into play? 🔹 Close to 30 announced projects and government auction areas across EMEA, covering almost 50 GW of potential capacity, could need HVDC configurations in the next 8 years – which of them will actually be built? 🔹 Want to know which projects have secured #transmissionscope and which might be at risk due to long lead times? Subscribe and get access to Aegir Insights’ Transmission Order Books. 📍 Connect with us at WindEurope 2025 in Copenhagen this week to explore Aegir Insights’ supply chain data and insights and get a demo of the Aegir Platform in person. Reach out to Victoria Maguire Toft to meet up at the conference. #offshorewind #windenergy #supplychain #transmission #turbines

    • Aegir Insights supply chain order books show that as HVDC lead times stretch and demand grows, securing supply early will shape who delivers offshore wind on time.

  • Floating wind: New momentum and ambitious cost targets The last six months marked a step forward for commercial #floatingwind, with 1.9 GW of offtake contracts awarded, the first signals of floating technology entering commercial scale. That is a significant jump forward from what has been secured globally prior to this, in terms of both volume and cost. This breakthrough is thanks to strong commitment from the governments of #France, the #UK, and #SouthKorea — all aiming for a leading position in offshore wind supply chains and services. But while momentum is building, there are many piece which still need to be solved - strategic port investments, fit-for-purpose vessels, and manufacturing capacity to ensure that this first commercial volume becomes a sustainable sector. At Aegir Insights, we focus on helping stakeholders cut through uncertainty with trusted data, scenario modelling and strategic #intelligence — supporting better decision-making across policy, investment, and development planning. Let’s talk about what the future of floating looks like. 📍 Connect with us at WindEurope 2025 in Copenhagen to explore how Aegir Insights can support your floating wind #strategy with market intelligence and scenario modelling, as well as long-term market forecasts that you can trust. Reach out to Scott Urquhart to meet up at the conference. #FloatingWind #OffshoreWind #WindEurope2025 #EnergyTransition #AegirInsights

    • The next wave of floating wind projects have committed to ambitiously low CAPEX delivery costs, enabled by larger project scale and long delivery timelines. Recent floating wind auction results imply CAPEX reduction of more than 50% compared to earlier demo projects.

  • Tune in to the next Aegir #Wavelength on 4 April 2025: Navigating commercial uncertainty of external wake effects As offshore wind deployment grows globally, #externalwake interference is becoming an increasingly critical risk to project performance and profitability. External wakes result from wind farm clustering in high-density regions like the #NorthSea, and if not assessed early, they can significantly lower project capacity factor and undermine already tight business cases. Whilst there is substantial debate on different wake models for assessing impacts, there are many other things such as market and commercial assumptions which can have as much, or more consequence on the business case impacts from external wakes. This is where Aegir Insights’ combination of sector leading intelligence and advanced simulation capabilities of #AegirQuant can bring unique perspectives to this industry debate. Join us for Aegir Insights' next 15-minute Wavelength Intelligence Briefing, where our CEO Scott Urquhart and Head of Software Solutions Morten Kofoed Jensen will discuss what factors are impacting external wakes, why they are becoming increasingly important to include in early-stage project screening, and how Aegir’s intelligence platform and Quant software help assess and de-risk external wake impacts, turning uncertainty into actionable strategy. • How big of a role will #Chinese monopile suppliers play globally? Europe already has major monopile manufacturers, who excel in the industry with high-quality production and proximity to offshore projects. However, they face rising competition from Chinese suppliers offering high-volume, state-of-the-art facilities, own fleets for overseas transportation and potentially price competition on products delivered in Europe. Chinese monopile manufacturers benefit from large volumes at home, allowing them to scale production and compete globally. Chinese monopile suppliers have already entered four European markets, with more than 5 GW of fixed-bottom offshore wind projects sourcing monopiles from China. The majority comes from Dajin Offshore, while CWHI has secured orders that are currently under production.   How prominent could Chinese monopile suppliers become in the upcoming years? In Aegir Insights’ new analysis, available to our client, we examine the major Chinese monopile manufacturers and their potential to supply the European offshore wind market. Interested in getting a glimpse of our new report? Reach out to us here: https://lnkd.in/egxcvDZB. #offshorewind #windenergy #intelligence #China

    • Aegir Insights' new report analyzes which Chinese monopile suppliers are already exporting to Europe, and which could follow suit.

  • Supply chain opportunities and challenges in the Baltics Last week Aegir Insights’ Head of Supply Chain Victoria Maguire Toft and Market Analyst Signe Tellier Christensen joined industry leaders at the first International Baltic Sea Offshore Wind Summit in Gdańsk, Poland, hosted by BalticWind.EU. During a spotlight session on strengthening local offshore wind supply chains, Victoria shared key insights on global trends and Baltic-specific challenges: 🔹Installation vessels in high demand: Availability bottlenecks are a growing risk worldwide, impacting project timelines 🔹Building supply chain momentum in the Baltics: Executing on the existing project pipeline is essential to signal consistent demand and drive supply chain investment 🔹Better execution sequencing: Smoother project rollouts in Poland and the Baltic States would reduce risk and avoid supply chain cannibalization Unlocking the full offshore wind potential of the Baltic Sea requires regional collaboration, strategic investments, and supportive financial mechanisms. A well-coordinated approach will help bridge supply chain gaps, strengthen local capabilities, and accelerate Europe’s clean energy ambitions.
